Sealik
I'll bet the bottom of the lash pad is recessed.... Some rockers look very worn......front of its face...which would mean that it needed thicker pads and or valve lash was set rather.... loose. Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
ck the bottom of the lash pad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote Link to comment
Sealik
. . The rocker on the right looks OK.....has a 90 degree lip in front of its face, whereas the rocker on the left??? Can't tell from pic...... Soooo...the cam was around .450 new..???.....and now it's about .407....hmmmmm Would assume that the lash pads would be around .150 with a 'new' .450 cam.....pretty sure your pads are stock, which means 'you' were out about .060.....based on the stock (.096) lash pad thickness Thus the abnormal wear on the rockers. Also....the cam could of been initially installed with used mismatched rockers....also contributing to cam/rocker wear Many factors..... Here' mine with 180 lash pads.....with the appropriate wipe pattern remaining Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
stupid, the cam looks fine to me except that one scratch on the one lobe. ps a stock lash pad is about .120 and of coarse is counter sunk on the back. my opinion is everything looks correct so far. its up to u to ck to see if you got aftermarket lash pads and measure them,do a wipe pattern to make sure its in the center or close to the center Quote Link to comment

Actually.. :D....the stock lash pad is about .165 thick The recess is about .069....sooooo...actual 'lift' is around .096 Those pads have slots in the top of them...which means they're stock Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
if those are stock pads then they are stock retainers as they are flush. If after market the stock lash pad would sink in a taller reatiner. swap another head run it see if its queit . and do thecrane cam head on a empty block and set it up Quote Link to comment
Jayden71
I run 15W40 diesel oil. I run 15W40 oil as well, Delo. No issues on a L16, 12k since rebuild. I do .006 /.008 cold I had valve noise issues too untill I adjusted like this cold. Only had to do it once and no issues since. I think I have done a readjust a few months ago but that it. Just my .02......now back to your regularly scheduled forum. Quote Link to comment
Stupid_fast
Lash caps are stock... No idea how to measure to find the correct size for my cam. Hainz, I dont exactly have a spare head sitting around. I set the valves to 0.006 int/ 0.008 ex cold and still makes lots of valve noise. Quote Link to comment
Sealik
Those rockers look shot. I would find another cam with matching rockers Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
To me those rockers look reconditioned as the pad itself is almost flush with the rocker arm holding it. As Sealik said that one rocker looks bad. However the lash pad wear is in the CENTER You could try buying new rockers and re setting it up. But My experience has been a new cam is close to .160-175 on the lash pad. Now I have heard of the Damb Cam kit that can use a stock retainer lash pad set up cause it uses a Chrysler valvekeepers or some shit like that. Thats my only guess. Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
The rocker on the left here doesn't look like it's in the right part of the lash pad. Way too far to the "back". Like the "nose" of the rocker was ground off, or the contact pad has been ground down past the hardening. Running like that I would think would increase the risk of having the lash pad fall out (I've had it happen). Quote Link to comment
