First I hit them with a wire wheel. Then I used this metal polish. It's been good to me over the years so haven't tried anything else.

I also use this stuff on the bumper, wheels, door handles, ect. It's my multi-purpose metal polish. If anyone has used anything better, please inform me.

I've got a great woman! She bought me this shifter boot for my B-day!

Old rubber boot is pretty beat up. I'm gonna leave it under the new one to try to keep the road noise down.

Shift knob just unscrews.

Tried just resting the boot on top but there were these gaps in the corner. Unacceptable!

I wanted to pinch the corners down so they don't show when I shift. Had to pop the center console up just a hair. Removed the screws.

Had to be gentle. Already have a couple cracks.

Lifted up just enough to slip the boot under the corners of the console.

All back together!! Sweet!! So much quieter in the cockpit now.

Glove box light wasn't workin'. Pulled the bulb out. Looks original, damn!

IMG_0789.jpg

New bulb didn't work unless I wiggled it around. Needed to clean up the contacts. Got an 8mm brass bottle brush.

Bent it to get it in that awkward position.

A little scrubbing and....DING!

Got some past due maintenance done on the Z. Belt was cracked, water pump was getting noisy, heater hoses were bulging and scraping against the firewall, and the front crank seal had started leaking. Things were getting nasty.

When I took the water pump pulley off, noticed a bolt was missing.

Things coming apart.

IMG_0840.jpg

Had to use a puller to get the crank pulley off.

New parts!

Bolt clean up.

Heater hose was tucked so far up I didn't even know it was kinked.

IMG_0854.jpg

New hoses installed. Cleaned up the drippy goo that was on the firewall and put the new grommets in. Didn't have enough time to do a rebuild on the heater valve, but it doesn't leak.

All Clean!! Hit the water pump pulley with the wire brush and some metal polish. I'd like to get a billet crank pulley to tidy it up a bit also.

Sweet Z, Looking good!

Quick Tip: To get rid of the surface rust on the inside of the bumper buy "The Works" Toilet bowl cleaner it works well for rust but for cleaning toilets it sucks...

I used it on both my bumpers and there is no rust what so ever on them now, took about 3 bottles for each bumper and you can pick it up at the Dollar Tree...

All I did was plug the License plate mounting holes and poured the Cleaner in and all over the inside of the bumper let it sit a couple minutes and then went to work with a scrubbing brush and a couple minutes later I had a clean bumper...
