flatcat19
ok here we go. The only numbers I can find on the bike are right next to the rear axle. and excuse the paint lol. I did that when I was a kid. Looks like one of the first Mach 1's. Might be called Speed 1 or Speed Series. Very good race frame back in the day. Set of PitBull brakes and some Redline Flite cranks, that thing would be what every other racer rode. Right before this era, the dropouts had open seat and chain stays. GT was the first to do this. GT now can't hold a candle to how awesome they were in the day. Why is the seat cut in half? If that is the seat I think it is-there is a stress line right there from the molding process. Dropping your bike just right would break those things. I used to carry 2 seats in my backpack every where I went. :P Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
GT now can't hold a candle to how awesome they were in the day. Seems like none of the old school brands can. Diamond Back is now a walmart brand and the quality is at that level. Quote Link to comment
nis720
Why is the seat cut in half? The bike sat outside for a few years... sun damage caused the seat to break. I just happen to find this piece right where I kept the bike. I found a replacement one that I'll be picking up next week. Quote Link to comment

Though DiamondBack, GT, and Mongoose still do have Top of the line models. Redline has even gone up and down in the quality department. It's hard to decipher what people consider an old-school brand. BMX has gone through more shifts in the industry than skateboarding has. On that note though, Haro are still going strong. As well as DK, Redline, S&M, and Hoffman. Quote Link to comment
