Trashdatsun
I have a stuck valve and it hammered pretty loud. I am wondering if there is a good cleaning/lubricating product I could use to free it up... anyone have any ideas? Quote Link to comment

Maybe you have oiling issues? Check lash caps, rocking arm keepers. Quote Link to comment
elmerfudpucker
toss some seafoam in the oil. Quote Link to comment
hogboy52
Take the rocker arm off, spray any type of penetrating oil around the stem, place a bit of wood over the valve spring and tap on that with a hammer. Quote Link to comment
yellowdatsun
ATF is great as a cleaning agent. Use 1/2 to 1 quart and the rest regular motor oil. IN VG30's it works awesome to free up stuck lifters. How much it will work on other engines I'm not sure. But some guys running L-series engines had recommended it to me, so it must work in those as well. I just ran it for a while to clean up the deposits on the lifters, and then back to regular oil. Other guys run a half quart with every oil change. Quote Link to comment
Trashdatsun
Thanks guys, that helps, i have heard of the ATF treatment and since the truck has sat for 5 years it may be just the thing. I'll pull the cover and try to free it up and then do the ATF thing Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
It's likely that the valve lash is off. Too much clearance is loud. Quote Link to comment
