Drive510
I'm having issues with removing the wiper motor from the firewall. I unbolted the 3 bolts that connect it to the firewall and it wiggles a little bit but now what??? Any advise or help would be appreciated. Thanks. Quote Link to comment
INDY510
. Take off the wiper blades .. . .. then remove the wiper cowl ...... . . . then reach into the wiper cowl and twist/pull the plastic peice off the wiper motor "arm" Quote Link to comment
Drive510
ok, just took wiper blades off. Taking off the exterior vent cover. Just finished drilling out those little screws that hold it. Hang on a sec. I'll tell you what I see. Quote Link to comment
Drive510
Ok exterior cover off. Going to pull out the shop vac. I think it's a rats nest in there. Quote Link to comment

bananahamuck
Using a small flat screw driver.... on end of motor shaft lift tang up slightly them slide clip to one side then off shaft.. If you have hotdog fingers like me putting it back on will require a lot of patience Quote Link to comment
jun
^what he said. If you have a Haynes manual there's a diagram for wiper motor removal. That e-clip needs to come off the shaft. Quote Link to comment
Drive510
Yeah, I got my Haynes. Got a little side-tracked and shop-vac'd the rats nest but also the engine bay as well then went to remove the driver's side horn. Need to head off to work. Going to take my Haynes with me and study that diagram at work. Any idea what page it's on? Quote Link to comment
mklotz70
I couldn't find the old thread....maybe it was on nwde and the archive doesn't have pics anyway. Managed to dig the pics up from a how-to done years ago....I loaded them up to photobucket....maybe there's something there that will help. http://s88.photobucket.com/albums/k162/mklotz70/How%20to/510%20wiper%20rebuild/ Quote Link to comment
Drive510
Awesome pics. I don't believe any of the rumors the other guys have said about you. You're a cool in my book. How important is that spacer (next to the washer) in pic 23 of your photobucket? I think my shop-vac ate it. Quote Link to comment
mklotz70
believe the rumors....most are true from their perspective :) The spacer is to keep from completely crushing the rubber grommet. If your shop vac ate it, it's still in there. You could probably just make another out of a piece of copper or steel tubing. They were pretty common back then....you could probably pull one from any other datsun in the scrapyard. :) Quote Link to comment
datzae
clip 4 by datzae, on Flickr Here is a pic of the retaining clip on the windshield wiper motor. Use a mirror to see. Just bend the top part of the clip up so it slides away from the nut and pops off very easy. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Thread is over 4 years old but... still info I guess. Welcome to Ratsun. Quote Link to comment
