The stock one is boxed to reduce flex and make stronger. Why fix something that's not broke? Just because something is made of aluminum or says JDM does not mean you have to have it. Improves Performance and Handling, Best for Road Racing or Drifting. Very unlikely. If it makes fitting a KA or SR easier... fine. If it reduces bump steer geometry... fine.
