jefe de jefes
What's with the extra wire loop? Quote Link to comment
jefe de jefes
Next question. I connected my tach per the diagram. I no longer have a ballast resistor. So where do I connect these? I removed the ceramic resistor after I switched to the matchbox setup. Quote Link to comment
hang_510
What's with the extra wire loop? stock tachs are inductive pickup. wire them in series on the + side of the coil. (just erase the resistor from the schematic.) reverse them if the tach goes backwards  Quote Link to comment
jefe de jefes
+ side? I found a few links that say to use the - side. http://dimequarterly.tierranet.com/articles/DQ_11.3_510_Factory_Tach_Repair.pdf Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Datsun wired the inductive tachometers to the + side of the coil feed. But apparently they work the same if you wire them into the - side. The + side is already under your dash. The - side is not there from the factory (it's only under the hood). Quote Link to comment
jefe de jefes
Ok , I'll try both ways. Not sure if I'll get to it tomorrow after work. Gonna be a scorcher outside :( Quote Link to comment
qwik510
Mine is wired to the negative side of the coil. Just disconnect the wire going to the negative side, hook up on of the wires from the tach to it and then hook up the other wire from the tach to the negative coil post. If it doesn't work, reverse the 2 tach wires. I have done quite a few 4 wire tach installs and all of them are wired this way. Quote Link to comment
jefe de jefes
^^^^ sounds good. I'll try that. Thanks Quote Link to comment
