Get it on the road

Recommended Posts

Well my project is mid stage, I was about 1/2 way through my project before I ran out of money and could not finish (New House, New baby, New job). I had decided to put my Datsun on the back burner until I paid down a lot of my bills. Well I went from owing $48k to now only owing $10k. Now that my bills are in order and I have some extra money, I feel its time for me to get back on my Datsun and get it done for as cheap as possible. Previously I was going to put in some super expensive coilovers, and build out my CA18DET to the moon, pretty much a build that would never get finished. This plan I am coming at it now is actually obtainable, and I will be able to drive it with only a little more time and money. Before it was going to cost me at least $15k to get it on the road. I am going to try to get it running on the road for under $1500

I am kinda stuck right now because I am stuck in Afghanistan thinking about my truck and the fact that I can not do anything to push my build further. I am having my brother be my hound dog to round up parts that I find on craigslist. I can not wait to get home and start working on my project so I can finally drive it after watching it sit for 2 years in my side yard.

I wonder where you where. But the Datsun is in the same state it was as the 510 years ago!!!!!!!!!!!!

just get it running !!!!!!!!!! L motors are EZ and just keep it that way

Hainz, I don't want to hear it, so I will tell you what you want to hear, You were right, should have left it how it was and just ran the crap out of it. I was trying to make things way to complicated and I see that now. I am thinking SUPER simple, KA24DE is simple, Carbs are already sitting in my garage and super simple. and I picked up a matchbox distributor for the KA24DE. I found an awesome deal on a KA24DE so I am not going with the L Series.

Normally, I would want to see the pictures also.

But this guy is in Afghanistan. I am pretty sure he would rather be close enough to his Datsun to be able to take pictures of it.

Ryan, thank you for your service. Be careful over there.
