Exor
So I finally got my 510 wagon started, starts up strong even in this cold weather. BUT even if I let it idle and warm up (I waited 15 mins) as soon as I pull away I get about a block and the engine dies. Almost like it's getting to much gas. Then when I try starting it up again I won't idle for more than a minute literally. Any thoughts before I call a mech? Oh and I'll post pics. Quote Link to comment
Laecaon
My auto dies all the time if I dont let it warm up, but it sounds like you have a different problem. Quote Link to comment
HRH
Vacuum leaks or a malfunctioning choke for both of you. Quote Link to comment
Exor
Well I experimented with the choke open, close, partialy open, it dose the same thing. But it could malfunction while driving and I would be able to tell. Quote Link to comment

Skib
Compression test? Alright. what? check for vacuum leaks. all your rubber vacuum hoses and rubber hoses for what ever emissions stuff is on there. Quote Link to comment
MicroMachinery
Pretty much any rubber lines that aren't fuel or coolant lines. Check and make sure they're not brittle, make sure they're tight, and make sure there are no openings that should be plugged/blocked off. Quote Link to comment
Skib
another way of finding leaks is spray some starter fluid around the line and if it has a vacuum leak itl suck the starter fluid in an your RPMs will go up a bit Quote Link to comment
Laecaon
Vacuum leaks or a malfunctioning choke for both of you. Alot of it is the horrible torque converter, draws too much power. Choke, definitely a possibility, it used to get stuck open (turned the car on and it was revving at full rpm). Vacuum leak, maybe I will have to check. Once the car has been on for 10 minutes no more stalling. Quote Link to comment

Exor
It was the fuel filter. I need to flush my gas tank and clean the lines. So now to wait until pay day Quote Link to comment
