No Spark

Recommended Posts

I picked up my 320 yesterday and now trying to get it started but for some reason it won't start. It turns over okay, coil has power on both terminals when ignition is on and also tried a different coil which I know works and also another coil lead and still no spark????

Any suggestions??

one way to ck if the points are working is get a test light

remove the wire that went to the points.

place the alligator end on where the wire useud to go.

take the pointy end and place on pos of battery. when you start truck the test light should flash. meaning its grounding its self and then it opens.(coil fires when the points are open)

if light stays ON all the time that means the points are closed or grounded. thus Not firing!

I'm low tech, I just remove the cap and rotor, make sure the points are closed(not on a high point on the dist. shaft), turn the ignition on and open the points with a screw driver, if there is no spark then there is no power to them, check the internal dist. wire, if there is spark, check the gap ajustment of points.
