  1. Yeah finally decided to show my ugly mug again. Been pretty busy the last 15 months. The guy, so called mate, screwed me on my ute. Nothing got done really other than disassembly, which I did half myself and sandblasting which I had also organised and paid for. When things weren't getting done and money was being handed over, this was 6 months after the expected deadline things started going south so I got my stuff out of there and to find he had sold some of my parts, when I couldn't find them. So now I've had my entire ute pulled apart down to every last nut and bolt sitting in bare metal for the past 12 months. It's been heart breaking which is why I haven't been on here. We finally bought a house 11 months ago so the last few weeks been out in the shed trying to get that sorted so I can get started back on the ute early next year. Oh and finally after 15 months my mate and I finally got the doors open on our business a couple months back. So yeah thats me in a nutshell. So how you been keeping? What's this wagon you speak of?
  2. WTF, you still got this buzz box? And it's not painted yet either! What you been doing slacker?
  3. I will rub back to bare metal and check and send you a picture. I'm guessing you mean at the back of the sill panel like the picture above? will PM you some pictures of that area. PM me which side?
  4. If you need any repair sections I may be able to help you out. Send me pics of what sections you need and I'll check if they're any good on my scrap cab.
  5. More progress pictures, some panels and tub back from the blaster. The only rust in the tray which I am rather happy about. The bonnet was almost near perfect other that a small rust hole under the badge Previous repair will be removed and done properly and the only rust in the doors and one repair in progress The original white ute now completely stripped and engine ready to be removed for chassis to be blasted Anyone wanting any rust repair sections please let me know as this will be getting scrapped. i will let you know if the sections you are after are any good and can send pics.
  6. So the tub, bonnet, and doors have all been sent to the soda blasters. Cab is almost in bare metal and hope to be completely back to bare today. Colour is going to be Super Jet Black. More picture of the resto. Both sills removed. This is what came out of this sill When taking repair sections out of the white cab this came out of the sill, measures about 40cm long. So glad I didn't end up using this cab. New section getting welded on
  7. Sorry Mr B but NO you cant have this one.
  8. Hi Wayno. Yeah got the rubbers from him. I am stoked with the clock and it can be inverted so just have to machine up a base plate to sit properly under the dash
  9. Got this for the ute, I know it's not original but will still look the part. Also got all new rubbers including doors, front and rear windows, 1/4 windows and window channel. Hope to have the cabin in full bare metal by the weekend.
  10. Thanks Mr B. Feels like it has been a life time. Been busy with the kids, work and trying to set up a new business so getting anything done on any of my cars has been almost impossible.
  11. A little more progress, started stripping white ute down, all panels including tub are hopefully getting dipped in the coming weeks to strip all paint and remove any rust. Interior has been dropped off for a full make over.
  12. Thanks guys. Again the ute has been on the back burner. Never got it registered after the inspection and before I knew it the 90 days I had to do it had lapsed. So apart she came to continue the resto. Finding more rust and repairs, I thought to be too much for me so I turned to my parts cars cabin. Stripped it of all its panels to find it was lamb dressed as mutton. Although it looked pretty old and rusted at a glance in it's entirety it was virtually rust free. Other than the left sill panel damage and a hole cut in the roof about the size of a 10c piece or a quarter and a few little dings everything else was actually quite minor. A friend of mine has just recently opened his life dream, a restoration shop. So I have handed him the job of doing my ute to help him get started in his business. He is also going to paint the chassis, put a new gasket set through the motor and paint, make a conversion for the J15 so I can run an L series 5 speed behind it, a new exhaust to go with my new headers and paint it the same as my Fairlady. Hope to have it done by the end of October. So i made a rotisserie for the other cabin and is now at his workshop and started.
  13. I may have a complete wiring loom if interested and maybe a few other parts. PM me your number or I can send you mine.
  14. Wow can't believe how long it has been since last posting in this thread. Since my last post I have added a new addition to our family. This is Jude Gilbert he is now 4 months old. Well there has been a revival on the 521 ute. Got it fixed up enough to have it pass its inspection so I can get it registered. Now that is done I have pulled it back off the road to finish the repairs properly. A few recent pictures Got an early 3 bar grille for it and have decided I am going to paint it black, the exact same paint scheme as my Fairlady with the silver BRE style stripes and DATSUN logo. This will be my first paint and panel attempt and have bought a new welder for the task. If you see anything I am doing wrong or know of an easier/better way of doing it feedback is appreciated.
