brodster
I have heard of Z-Therapy for rebuild SU's. I know they do the whole roller bearing thing and are overall top notch. Have you guys used or had any experience with Paltech Technologies? http://www.paltech1.com/index.html Quote Link to comment

He seems pricey but worth it. Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
buy a set of used sidedraft mikunis with that money! Quote Link to comment
FoxyRoadster
If the throttle isn't sticky you might just consider getting a basic rebuild kit and see how that works for you. I know my carbs on my roadster are like new on function, just need polished and I had to re-gasket the whole thing as time takes its toll on cork. Quote Link to comment
erikcarter
How much difference do the webers or Mikunis make over SUs? Quote Link to comment
brodster
Actually, I am not planning on buying SU's. My orginal plan was to get a closed chamber head, basic port match, and cam with 38mm SU's. However, now I have a U67 head, bigger intake valves, porting, and cam. I figured something like 40mm Mikunis would be best for street fun. This will be on an L20b. I was more curious about this rebuilder of SU's. Again, most likely won't be getting SU's. brodster
How much difference do the webers or Mikunis make over SUs? From what I have read, the SU's (38mm) are great for low-end power and good for mid-range. They are simple to maintain and tune. They provide good fuel economy. Supposedly the webers and Mikuni's provide a lot more top-end power. Fuel economy isn't as good. I guess that all depends on what size you run. I think 40mm is Mikunis would be great for street operation and would provide great power in the RPMS that are normal. But that is what I have researched. I am sure the other guys have much more info that is better. Quote Link to comment
FoxyRoadster
How much difference do the webers or Mikunis make over SUs? Quite a bit of difference as they are more tunable then the SU's are, you have pretty much one intake per cylinder, and not to mention a few hp. This caught my attention a while back though http://www.311s.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=8103 and http://www.311s.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=7180 if you have some time and are wanting to do something a little different. erikcarter
I looked at that link, that is a cool setup, I might trest the waters and see how much I can get for my SUs on my car. and try to get a set on Mikunis Quote Link to comment
Skib
unless you plan on running SU's and keeping them your prob best dropping your cash on what are going to keep. its not cheap but you do get what you pay for, your carbs will come back brand new Quote Link to comment
Rustina 510
The 280z had dual 48mm su carbs that with some simple modding it will bolt onto the L20 motor, his is the plan I am trying to do. The 48 mm will give more fuel for nice pick up during the higher Rpms, this is what I have been told, plus the su carbs look really nice when polished up. Quote Link to comment
