No I don't know what Hitachi carb I am talking about. I need to see the spring that holds the choke valve open. I think the one on my 74' 620 is broken of not properly installed. datzenmike
The choke valve or plate is held closed by a bi metallic coil inside the electric choke heater. When started, the curent heats the bi metal coil and it expands at a set rate and unwinds, opening the choke plate. The bi metallic coil is inside the choke heater housing: Does this help? It's the return spring for the accelerator pump. . Quote Link to comment

The choke plate is staying closed and I suspect the spring is not pulling on it. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Just remove the three Philips screws around the outside of the heater case and lift off, the coil is inside wrapped around the choke shaft. The choke shaft is horizontal and has the choke plate on it. It might be un hooked inside. . Quote Link to comment
