budsaipan
I read somewhere on this site that the 620's had a factory chrome piece that covers the bottom windshield moulding. Anyone have picture of this? Cant seem to find any pictures on this site... Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
I know there was a "chrome" strip that ran around the whole windshield gasket (like the ones that Z cars have) but it was a pretty rare option, 78-79 I think. Seen a couple, usually combined with chrome drip rails. I've never heard of one that just ran on the bottom. Quote Link to comment
budsaipan
what chrome drip rails? This is what mine came with.. I'm not sure if you can see it quite clearly. Quote Link to comment
Jersey
I believe the piece you are referring to was a safety feature added to the '79 models to keep the windshield in place in the event of an accident. In addition, the cab also saw structural reinforcements added to the A pillar and cowl areas, all in the name of safety. Quote Link to comment
Jersey
Uh oh...looks like I double posted. :-O Quote Link to comment
budsaipan
I see.. Is there any value in it? I have a 77 cab now. Switched because the 79 floor was rusted through. Quote Link to comment
Jersey
I guess the value would be if it works the way they intended it to work...you live. :-) I believe it was a federal safety mandate that they had to comply with in '79...although, don't quote me on that. Quote Link to comment

Check the next gen 720... collapsible splined column and u joint that would fold in an accident.:( Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
It's no surprise. CMVSS required the collapsible column in cars, but not in pickup trucks until 1979. 1968: CMVSS No. 203 Impact Protection for the Driver from the Steering Control System They keep amending it, last done in 2009. So now we is safe. Quote Link to comment
