datzenmike
That motor looks like it's been at the bottom of the ocean for a few years. It takes a long time to get that bad. If the engine was left in the car it was done so with out the protection of anti-freeze coolant. orange water mark looking stuff on the camgear Maybe it really is a water mark and that block was in a ditch for a couple of years. . banzai510(hainz)
clean off that white speks behine where the water pump sat. and ck the metel very closely, there could be a tiny hole you can barely see. Like I said earlier to you look like termites went threw it. I would ck the tinning cover for the hole first since you said water went in the oil. But i think you said it was cooming out the pipe also. Fuck it! almost better to get another motor what I see so far. l16 are ez to come by. OR watch this NAKED first and after 80 minutes youll know more ans ask better question. http://www.guba.com/watch/3000024223/Hainz-Datsun-L-Series-Engine-01-Timing-Tare-down-and-Rebuild Quote Link to comment

datsunaholic
That engine "runs strong"??? I wouldn't run it. And I've run some serious junk. Cam, water pump, and timing cover alone are lost causes. Thing looks like it has been submerged. I've seen engines that ran total-loss cooling in salt water for decades (boat engines) that look better than that. Quote Link to comment

I'm amazed it ran at all let alone strong Quote Link to comment
