pharouh
You guys have a lot of good points from both sides of the argument. Generally speaking, cars are not a good investment. It's more a hobby than anything else. Like you said, how many cars have you seen with "$20,000 invested-sell for $10,000". That's not an investment, that's spending money on something you like. I've had the same argument with people I work with. I know they think I'm crazy for putting a lot of money into a 37 year old 620. But it's what I want to do,it's my Harley,it's my fishing boat,it's my weekly trips to the casino,it's my trips to Disneyworld, etc, etc. Guys like Barry White, from 'Wrecks to Riches' TV show-NOT the singer, can make money on a car. But he does American made 60's and 70's muscle cars only. That's where the money is. You could ask these people what they think their car will be worth in 30 years. Probably scrapped years before that. Thanks for letting me add my 2 cents. Quote Link to comment
hang_510
sentimentality does NOT increase value. :( the semi mental will attempt to... if you drive a datsun, you likely are not concerened with the value, until ins becomes involved. <_< Thanks for letting me add my 2 cents. you know youll never get that investment back either! RetroNut
Well my BMW I have right now, I paid $2000 for it cuz thats all I can get out of it use wise. My Ranger, $600, once again, the value of the use of the car and what I can get out of it. For a fully done up perfect running order 510, I'd pay a lot because I'd keep it for a life time. Been having issues finding a 510 in nor cal. LOL People are taking them to the grave with them. Whatcha all think about a 73 BMW 3.0 S? I can get it with 180,000 miles for $500. I'm thinking I should hold out though as I have 3 cars already. Quote Link to comment
