L series only doglegs are found standard equipped in '77-'79 200sx and as an optional 5 speed in the '78 and '79 A-10 (later 510) in the US and the '78-'80 A-10 in Canada. Yes there were Z series doglegs so know the difference.

OMG...

Seriously, this was supposed to be a thread about the transmission found in a 1983 Datsun/Nissan 720 Kingcab truck.

The difference between the L and Z series transmission has been discussed at length in this very thread.

The answer to all your other questions are here on ratsun. If you cannot find the answer post up a new thread on your problem, in the appropriate section of the forums and it will be answered pretty quickly and can stay mostly on topic.

Want a 5-speed?

Get the late L series long tail 5-speed and have a driveshoft shop shorten your driveshaft. Or buy the appropriate driveshaft for your car.

The later Z series trans (such as the one this thread was about and the one Mike mentioned) has the bellhousing clocked about 12 degrees so it will not work with your L series engine.

Want an easy fix?

Put an early (short) 4-speed in your car and drive it.

Want a dogleg?

Keep an eye out in the J/Y's and CL for a '77-'79 200sx and as an optional 5 speed in the '78 and '79 A-10 (later 510) with an L series engine.

Or post a wanted thread in the classifieds...

AND STOP POSTING IN CAPS!!!11!!1!1111

Not upset...just concerned as your questions were answered multiple times right here in this thread. Slow down and comprehend the information. Don't just keep posting the same question in a different format.

...and CAPS DOESN'T MAKE YOUR POST SEEM ANY MORE URGENT!!!!

it just annoys people as it's hard to read and makes it seem as though you are yelling.
