power stering on a 521 ???

Im restoring my 71 521 , I have converted to 79 620 ball joint front suspension.

 

Im hoping to find a power steering box to put onto this truck , hopefully something that fits the pitmen arm.

or can use the new steering parts i bought :cool:

do you have pic's of the swap and/or what did you have to do to install the 79 620 into the 521.

The 620 steering box has the sector shaft on the inside of the frame rail beside the motor. All 720 boxes are on the outside so these won't work on it. Well they might if you swap all steering linkage parts and idler. Never thought of that. I used a 280zx (non R&P) box and rotated the pitman 180 so it faced to the rear like the 620. Pitman arm from the 620 fit right on. Had to mod the mounting but it worked just fine.

Hey Mike were you able to use the 620 pitman arm? on the 280 box?

 

Im not apposed to making new mount for the steering box.
