It uses springs to force the side gears against the thrust washers hard enough to remove some of the slippage and provide some drive force to both axles. These washers and internal parts were not designed to act like a clutch and shouldn't be used in this manner. For less that twice that amount you could have a real LSD. Quote Link to comment
