L20b Swap

After two hours of wiggling, pushing and cursing i got the LZ2.2 installed. The exhuast is hitting the on the down pipe. It didnt hit on the L18 I took out. I slotted the motor mount holes and so I have some adjustment. The oil pan is not hitting the x-member. Any ideas how to correct this/ I am going to try some ehaust hanger and pull it over to clear.

 

Just need some carbs and I'll be ready to fire it up!

The Z22 block is 2cm taller so the head (and exhaust manifold) is 2cm higher as well.

Hey D Mike, thanks for the response.

 

It is still a L20B block just bored and Z crank. I guess the L20B is still 2cm taller causing the exhuast pipe to hit, guess I use the exhuast hanger and try and pull it over.

Yes, the L-20B is taller than the 16 and 18. Hence the extra bolt on the timing cover.

 

Time to switch to a header! :D

when i did my L20 swap, i used the same manifold and down pipe you did. i ended up doing a little hammer tuning to the downpipe so it would clear. and it worked and you dont even see where i had to hit it. cheap way to go.
