Edz280zx
Hey guys! I recently just picked up a 74 620 for near nothing with various stages of mold/rust yada yada(pics soon)... I have access to a free 720 with no title. I was wondering if the body off the 620 would fit on the 720 frame, so that I could have the better suspension/brake set up with minimal amount of effort? I guess I'm asking if they are even close or if it would just be easier to modify the front suspension to fit the 620 frame. All opinions welcome. Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
Datzenmike has done this. I believe he had to move the bed mounts. You might have title issues. Might want to check the local laws on that. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Yes, it fits. I have a '78 KC and it fits the 720 long bed, both frames are the same length. However the two front bed mounts had to be cut off and re-welded 11" back on the frame to fit the 620's smaller bed and longer cab setback. You have a '74, so a regular length bed. As long as the 720 is a regular bed it should swap no prob. If the 720 is a long bed any '75 or later 620 long bed will fill the gap, if you can find one. The 720s up to '84 used the same front disc brakes as the '78 and on, 620s. This is still far and away better than what was available for the '74s. If your 'free' 720 is an '84 or newer the fronts were upgraded to vented rotors and a larger caliper. Either way, you should use the 720 master cylinder to match the 720 brakes. The 720 booster won't fit the 620 but the M/C should. Once I got the 720 body cut off, I cleaned the frame and rust painted it. During the summer months when thoroughly dry inside the frame, I got an oil can and squirted a cup of oil inside each side to prevent rusting from the inside out. Do this every summer. The VIN# is on the pass side top of the frame, in front of the engine mount and behind the rad. If you sand it off carefully and paint over it??? If it isn't there?? My 720 frame was in a gentle roll over and scrapped. I measured every dimension and it was scary straight and rust free. The 620 frame it replaced was totally unsafe and rotten. I don't know the #, and can't imagine the Province checking a 30 year old beater to see if the #'s match up. (It isn't stolen and is now safer so :fu: them) Quote Link to comment
