sdsurf
How can I remove the crankshaft pulley with the engine in the truck? I tried with it in gear and the engine will still turn. Quote Link to comment
hang_510
didja remove the bolt first? it wont come off with it still on. :P try blocking the wheels so it cant roll. or a chain wrench around the pulley. a long pole on the breaker bar will help too. Quote Link to comment
ggzilla
Put it in top gear, not 1st gear. Then hammer your wrench a sharp blow couter-clockwise. Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
1) Place breaker bar with 27mm socket on crank pulley nut. 2) Crank over engine with starter. 3) Retrieve breaker bar from neighbors yard, socket from roof, and pulley from flower bed. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Ha ha, the voice of experience, eh? I clime under and very carefully mind you, suddenly kick the ratchet handle towards the driver's side. If done fast and hard enough the bolt cracks loose no problem. I've done this on engines on the ground without the benefit of having in gear. Quote Link to comment
banzai510(hainz)
You can also put a adjustable wrench on the cam boss(i think thats what they are called) Later L motor cam will have these. using breaker bar turn motor CCW till the adjustable wrench rest on the head bolt. then you can wrenck on the crank bolt. turn turn motor back to TDC if you have other things to take off or put back together when lining it back up Quote Link to comment
