2 more 720's to my collection

Recommended Posts

Well.... just got one of the 720s home

Was a long day...

Snapped some pics.....

Noticed some other things on it after the fact.....bonus.

Has those switches in the tray that Steve mentioned.

Rear slider in cab.

New exhaust.

Have the paper work....was sold in Edmonds, Washington in 1989 for 5500 cash.

From the listed price of 6995......with 144,347 miles.

Was brought to Canada right after the sale....has 151+ on it now.

So it has about 7000 miles on it after it was purchased in the US

Not bad....got 380 (80 to tow) into it now. Should be able to finish it for under 400.LOL

Have the parts......windshield....hood and valance.....even the same color!

Anywho....

Well...I got the 720 running.....finally

Couldn't figure out why no gas would come out of the fuel tank.

Changed the relay, fuses....and then the pump.

Still nothing....then I pulled the hose off the side of the tank and hit it with some air.....nothing....totally blocked.

Stuck a wire in about 7 inches and auged it out.

Finally....I could blow air into the tank.

But why.....???? They said the truck was ran out of fuel.....not.

Smells like varnish.

Changed the accelerator pump because it was leaking.... I assumed.

Not....was coming from the top of the carb

Pulled the front of the carb off and cleaned it up......needle was stuck.

Lots of crud.

Put another filter before the carb so I could flash it up and move it into my 'shop'.

Obviously the tank is full of shit....which is why the fuel sending unit is NFG.

I'll drop the tank and clean it out, but....I could use some knowledge on this endeavour.

Thanks

Update....

Changed the windshield, 'windshield wiper' valence, passenger window, gas tank (cleaned up) and found another sending unit in my back fourty:cool:

Installed a front driveshaft....was missing.

Replaced the ignition switch (soldered in) and plastic pieces that cover the steering column.

Replaced the heater switch/harness (soldered in), and cover for switches.

Pulled the seat and carpet.....dryed them out....shall install on weekend

Changed the fluids

Replaced thermostat and installed block warmer.

Changed the tires and rims

Gave it a quick wash.....but needs a good pressure wash.

Just realized that it's a long bed......wanted to put on a better canopy I have....but no fit.

Mine are all for short beds

Still much to do....

Yes.... the hood......and hinges

Pretty sure the hood went through the windshield.

It has a couple of dings in it.....(from me)

Was covering up another front end of a truck....didn't think I would ever need it.

Being that I have about 11 out side.......

It was the only one I had that matched the color of the truck

Well.....drop by then.....:lol::lol:

I'm having a free pick n' pull.

I also removed some of the unstable black crap on the floor and slathered.

Moisture gets under there....not good.

Also....have to mount one of my Datsun radios.

Would of been rather costly for someone to fix this truck.....if they didn't have all the parts....as I.
