skunk
:confused:so the wheels and tires that are on there now are 15x8 with p195-75r14 and the new wheels are 15x8 as well but im unsure of what tires will fit, i really like the bfgoodrich radials, but would a 235/70-15 rather then a p195/75r14 fit. its the width im worryed about. i know they will fit on the wheel its self. 67_1600
Here is a site that gives recommendations for tire size based on wheel width: Looking back at your post, you say your rims are 15" but have R14 tires - if you tires are R14 then you have 14" rims and not 15". Bleach
An 8 inch wide wheel will hold a 235 quite well. anything from 205 to 245 is perfectly acceptable for 8 inch width wheels. Quote Link to comment
Cuts metal like mad
if tires are 195-75-14... the wheels are 14", not 15" Quote Link to comment
HRH
A 195 is way too narrow for a 8 inch wide wheel. You can do it, but it pulls out the sidewalls pretty bad. Think lowrider with tread in the middle and half of that sidewall. Or here's another formula that I always use: 195 = width of tire in mm. 70 = the percent of the width that makes up the sidewall. R = rim size. So 195mm is 19.5 cm, and there are 2.54 cm/inch. 19.5/2.54= 7.68 multiplied by the aspect ratio: 7.68*.70= 5.376*2 (2 sidewalls)=10.752 10.752 makes up the sidewall + R14 = 24.752 inches tall. A good rule of thumbs for rims is to have about a half inch wider tire on each side than the wheel width. So a stock 14x6 inch Datsun rim would be perfect width for a 185 or 195 width tire. Now granted, that doesn't include racing. I have 205 slicks mounted on a 5.5" rim. Pooches a little, but fits! Edited October 18, 2009 by HRH Quote Link to comment
skunk
the 195s are whats on there now, there flat wont hold air, the 235 are what im looking at geting and if i can get a 245 on a 8 wide then i think id rather have the wider Edited October 17, 2009 by skunktruckin Quote Link to comment
Bleach
I run 245/45-16 on 16x8 inch wheels just fine. If my website was up i would post a picture... Quote Link to comment
yello620
I have run 275/60/15's on an 8" wheel before, works fine. But that would be a lot of tire under the back of a datsun. Quote Link to comment
