danfiveten
Hey guys, right now i have 14's on my 83 720. My dad is letting me have some nice wheels that are 15's, only i need tires. What are the best size tires i can use that won cause me any rubbing issues on the truck? i ran a search and couldnt find any reall helpful info on the subject. Thanks. Quote Link to comment
izzo
just all depends on if yours is stock or lowered, raised etc. 15inch tires on my 720 were just fine, with regular ol cheapy tires at schwab. Lowered however is a different story, i had to run 195/65/15 to keep from rubbing. Quote Link to comment
KrazzyKevin
I've got 215/65/15s on my 720, and my dad had to raise the body an inch and a half to keep the wheels from rubbing when it went over any real intense bumps. Quote Link to comment
danfiveten
Yah shes not lowered at all, just plain all stock height. Hopefully she wont rub. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
2wd were P195/75R14 unless equipped with the Sports Package aluminum rim and P205/75R14 tires. This tells me that the largest tire allowable would be the 205/75R14. If you are going to 15" you need a tire matching the 205/75R14. A 205/70R15 would be very close for width but just a touch (1/4") taller. A 215/65R15 would be close for height but about 1/2" wider. Age will sag the springs and shocks are pretty tired after just one year of driving. These tires should work fine for the street. Quote Link to comment

Nissan_Boy85
I'm lowered some and running 195/55/15 in the front and 205/55/15 in the rear with no problems. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
mike, what about a stock 1980 4x4? Not sure about the '80, but later 4X4s were equipped with P215/75R15 tires. That would be about 8.5" wide by 27.75" tall. I understand you can go as tall as 29" and 9.5" wide (240/75R15) on a stock truck without rubbing. Quote Link to comment
flinterman2000
I'm running 205/50/15 in the front and 205/60/15 in the rear at just about factory height with no problems. Quote Link to comment
