Dust
So my 610 wagon has a full tow package on it. My engine is a strong running l20b with su round top carbs. Would it be possible to put a car dolly on that beast and tow around my track drift slut without lots of slugging?!? LMK! Quote Link to comment
bonvo
depends on how light your "drift slut" is but to be sure i would think a ka would be better suited Quote Link to comment

datzenmike
it weighs right around 2,200 pounds. Don't forget the weight of the trailer or dolly. It's not the pulling power you have to wory about. It's the ability of the towing vehicle to be able to handle and stop after almost doubling it's weight. Think worst case... steep long down hill with curves. Brake drums are heat soaked and you round the next corner to find it blocked and you have to panic stop. Will the suspension and brakes have enough in reserve to do the job? If you have some kind of towing package it should state the maximum load that's capable of being towed by your goon. Do not exceed it. Besides being illegal it'd dangerous. Quote Link to comment

compression
You dont want to tow something that is too heavy, otherwise it will start to tow you.... Be very careful, test your stopping ability ahead of time. any hills? Personally, i wouldnt tow anything more than a jet ski trailer. Quote Link to comment

Adding springs and brakes will not change this in the eyes of the law. If you are pulled over you may have to go to the next weigh station and be checked or if it's obviously over loaded you will be ticketed and have to tow it home some other way. Just asying.... Bleach
People on this forum tow things dangerously all the time. I don't. You want the tow car to weigh twice what it is towing. 700lb dolly, 2200 lbs car. You need a 6000 tow rig to safely stop in the situation listed above. Not even a 4x4 V6 Frontier is that heavy. Get a full size truck!!!! You're going to be jack-knifed into the back of some family's minivan Quote Link to comment
b210in
bad idea. get a budy with a full size truck. pulling it and stopping it is not the problem. given enough time and distance you can pull anything. the problem occurs when those situations arise that you do not expect like some person cutting you off and panic stops. save yourself, the other person involved in the accident you are going to cause, your drift slut, your 610 and get at the very least a 1/2 ton truck.
