kiznook
if you're willing to make a field trip...junkyards in the Portland area are swarming with 620s Quote Link to comment
OL YELLER
if you're willing to make a field trip...junkyards in the Portland area are swarming with 620s Having done that (replaced the harness)..a couple of dash harnessess(sp?) from a j/y is just the ticket.....yank them and go home..unwrap the tape from them and have at it..mostly just time consuming, but, worth it....pull the dash and it is so easy..just follow the wiring diagram in the manual.. ppeters914
Are the 520/521 harnesses similar to the 620 harnesses? If so, that'd be one way for me to have color matched wiring to splice in. Oh, and did you check any JY's farther north? Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
They're similiar in that they consist of wires, and run behind the dash. Other than that, no, they're very different. And 620 harnesses are very year specific. While some years are similar, the harnesses had a major rework in 1976 that changed the connector types, wiring pinouts, etc. '76-77 are fairly similar and probably can be made to work, earlier would not work at all. ppeters914
Oh, I wasn't thinking I'd be able to swap complete harnesses. I just want to color match any rewiring/splicing I need to do...and I need to do a bunch on both cars. Even though it's still "old" wiring, it's cheaper than using a Painless or EZ Wiring harness or buying the correct color wire from suppliers. Quote Link to comment
nismopu
at one local yard we have 5 620's to choose from and at another we have one or two that are 76-77. Yes, theres that many down here right now, lol. Not to mention down near dislexic dimes house theres a good u-pullit thats favorable to the datsuns, especially the s30's. peace. Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
Well, if you were just looking for spare wire to hack out then the wires have some common colors. But you wouldn't be able to use any of the connectors. Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
I have one for a 77 you could prolly have, but it's mixed in with a 79 harness at the moment... Holic, is there any way two tell which is which as I did not label either :P? Quote Link to comment
datsunaholic
The '79 won't have an EGR warning light timer circuit? That's the main dash difference, though the fuse locations were somewhat modified for feeding a different voltage regulator. If they both have part number tags (they would have originally) the 1st 3 digits of the second 5-digit code would be alphanumeretically higher on the later harness... Quote Link to comment

dat521gatherer
you can look at the 620.com wiring diagrams. maybe i'll try to look to notice a difference. only other thing is for me to remove my old one and send it to you to match up. Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
Maybe take a few pic's at the fuse panel connector showing the colors and I can see which one matches ;) Quote Link to comment
