78kingcab4spd
yesterday my friend and i were able to get a 78 kingcab 4spd for free. We have always wanted a car to, and i use this term loosely, "restore" and this truck fit the bill. cant pass up free.:D it needs a new head, and a new clutch and A LOT of body work, but we cant wait. I have been looking for a good forum to subscribe to, and this is by far the most active datsun forum i could find. I look forward to asking questions, and posting updates. Here is a link to my cardomain page so you can see some pic's of the truck http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3306242 Quote Link to comment

78kingcab4spd
i do have a question. what kind of head should i be looking for? I do not have the owners manual, so i dont know what model truck this is. Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
78 should have an L20B stock (doesn't mean that's what is in there though). You have a couple choices as far as heads go. It really depends on what you want out of your motor, that will help decide which head to use. ...and WELCOME! :D Quote Link to comment
78kingcab4spd
we are going to use it as a truck to just mess around in because it will be good on gas, and its all stock according to the previous owner. Edited March 25, 2009 by 78kingcab4spd Quote Link to comment
DatDoug
Check at the base of the head where it meats the block on the passenger side towards the front and it should tell u what the head is. U67 if it is stock Quote Link to comment

78kingcab4spd
I started to take the head off yesterday, and ran into a surprise. THIS THING HAS RUST EVERYWHERE!!!!!!!!!!! The head needed to be replaced anyway so its ok, but if the crankshaft, pistons, or cylinder walls have rust, then im going to end up looking for a new engine. Quote Link to comment
