Mr.King Rat & Mr.Hains thanks for your response. The Z motor came out of a 84sh 720 manual truck. Do you guys think iput on the wrong flywheel? At the time of mating the tranny and Z motor there were no fitting isues at all. The clutch kit was compete i did have to take of the collar from the old T/O to new one. thanks again for for your response. Hope to hear from you again.

woops, morning ratsun bros. i have an issue, its a 71 pl521. my son and i pulled out the tired 1600 a few days ago.ThE 1600 was running great with the 5 speed in it, but we bought a Z22 we already had a U67 head for it with a set of SU'S. So we made it pretty and put it together nothING special,(SOIRRY ABOUT THE CAPS SOMTHINGS FISHY WITH MY TABLET/ ITS NOT CAP LOCK KEY) WELL ITS ALL ABOUT QUALITY TIME WITH MY BOY. IPUT IN THE FLYWHEEL FROM A L20 AND A Z CLUTCH KIT. WE BOLTED EVERYTHING TOGHETHER PUT IT IN TRIED TO START IT BUT THE STARTER SOUNDED WEIRD A HORRIBLE GRINDING SOUND SO WE PULLED THE STARTER OUT AND PUT IN ANOTHER ONE THAT WAS MYBACK UPSTARTER. AND STILL THE SAME PROBLEMO. MYQUETION IS THAT SINCE I PUT IN A Z22 DO I NEED A DIFFRENT STARTER WITH A DEEPER STRIKER GEAR LOOKING THING THAT ENGAGES WITH THE FLYWHEEL? WHEN I PULLED OUT THE STARTER IT LOOKS LIKE ONLY A 1/4 OF THE FLYWHEEL AND STARTER ARE ENGAGING THE MOTOR KINDATURNS BUT NOT REALLY. PLEAS SHOOT ME YOUR ADVICE THANK YOU ALL, HAVE A GREATDAY( SORRY FOR THE CARS IM NOT YIELLING) GRACIAS

i have a 70 originalother than the wheels. its a 4 speed with a L16. i stay in the valley about 6 hrs from you. if your intrested call me. im in no hurry to get rid of it. i just took a 68 nice very nice one to Tijuaz it was a special delivery one. ive never seen anmolested everything 521 like that one. but the one ihave is also very nice. pm me i can texoremail afew pics.

My son and i just gowt back from datslocos car show n swapmeet. The weather was perfect the location was close enough from home so we could drive our RATTY 521. We had a great time n were redy for the next meet at TRACY. Hopefully we will score on some MIKUNIES. My boy is craving a set for our 5ndime.

My boy called and paid for door and windshield rubbers from Vintage Rubber for his 521. He recieved.them 5 weeks later. (not the the time.frame he.was.told) And when he finally got them, the door ones did not look right because they were from.a 620. The windshieds rubber was ok. I looked at Vintage Rubbers web and I noticed that he was showing the door of a 620 and not a 521. That should of threw a RED flag that maybe these guys arnt so sure abou what.they are selling, also as their 521 they show a 520 another sign. Anyways be carefull Ratsun bros. I dont think I will be.ordering.rubbers from these.guys.for my future projects. im sorry guys just wanted to throw this out there thanks for reading.

Hey bros let me pick yall brains, 78 automatic.with an L 20 bone.stock that had all that smog garbage. I took it all of to make it all cleaner and more easier to.work on. My little brothet is a little less mechanicly inclimed than I am. The truck drove fine shifting.smoothly while driving, but there we go riping smog everytning off now the truck will not shift while driving. It itles fine but wil.not past 30 miles or so motors rebs up high stressed like. Hope you.guys. wil lead.me on hay to look.for or what to do.thanksUn

I bought an L20 thats going to replace my L16 on my 521:D But i dont want to put in the L20 with out a (MATCH BOX DIZZY) is there any body local prefferably to the stockton/manteca/lod calii area that would like to sale me a match box for my project? If you wish i have a few extra 521 parts that you might need :) If i cant find any body local, i really need one so ill pay for shiping plus part cost. Help a fellow ratsuner out carenalitos!Thanks.

Thanks Mr. yellowdatsun. I dont think i want to switch the steering wheel any longer. Ill take all of your opinions not to do it. But i already did all the disc convertion on all four corners and put power windows in it that is a little late to stop but its kinda cool. and the brakes are extremely good compared to the drum brakes. thanks again for your advice.

Hey carnalitos I might be going krazy, but i would like to convert my 521 into a right handed steering side. Not that theres anything wrong with my original set up, but like a i said it would be nice i think. If any ratsun bros have any 411 on how to get a hold of one please speak up. I will greatly appreciate it. Or comments are also welcomed. Thanks in advance :cool:

dont be ashamed. it happened to me as well:unsure: datsuns have a way of suckering us all in. otherwise none of us on this threat would be looking a proud member of ratsun. I like all of your ideas. your list looks just like my old original list like the one wen i first picked up my first 521. boy it is countageous. the disk brake convertion is the best one of all. dont do what i did i made my truck faster than stock but left the brakes stock. then i ended up unde3r a bumper of a lifted suv totalled my ride. now that i was given another one or traded some work for one, i did it the better way discs on all four corners with booster. it stops like a brand new car. its not too expensive i did all the work my self. cutting the brake brackets from scratch n all:D. it wasnt that hard to do the convertion at all. i got all the 411 from this incredidable site RATSUN. now my 12 yr old son has thi 521 sickness i had to buy him one as well but it was a rare barn find. i stay in the valley where you still seee stuff like such. good luck.
