  1. Hey, Guys I know I've been here just a few days,......but I think you guys get my vibe. I'm an experienced forum user, of about 25 years or so. I jump in and introduce myself, do some posting, start some threads, crack jokes, ask questions, and try to make friends. So,..... the story starts here,..... I placed a wanted ad in the classifieds for a factory service manual. Guy messages me that he has one for $100. Here are the PM'S back and forth,...... (response to my ad) Exantusjurge 0 Started conversation: yesterday at 01:31 AM Hello buddy, I got an actual service repair manual book for 720 pickup available if you are still interested. Manual is in good use and no missing pages. $100 ship to around US 48 state for free. Pics of the Manual available in my email below. holyjames11@aol.com (Then my big mouth being friendly) MachineMan 31 Replied: 19 hours ago Hello! And thank you! Today was running around day. (cause I just got this 720) Bought it at night,...... was missing the front license plate. So,...call my insurance people and get covered. Next, some hardware to screw the plate on, and go to the DMV, (AAA). Nice girl helped me, I was as nice as could be, made her laugh a few times,...... it was still $90.00. Then I went to IN-N-OUT. Met an old guy that makes tools for the wood trade. Finally back to the shop. First time out in traffic with this thing, seems ok . That manual sounds great and I'll buy it. A member sent me a link to the PDF version. That is ok so I can do I valve adjustment etc., but I like a factory manual in my hand. For trade I have precision instruments, dial indicators, micrometers, etc. Tools and Tooling. Also model "A", and model "T" parts. Vintage VW parts. I have a ton of stuff over here. So just ask. Do you have Pay-Pal? Be Cool, MM (His response) Exantusjurge 0 Replied: 14 hours ago Ok buddy, check out my paypal email below $100 matogqetajy@hotmail.com send via family and friends option MachineMan 31 Replied: 2 hours ago I am still interested, but,................. I checked your status here. You have been here a very short time. You have zero posts. You didn't even post introducing your self. Not a single word of text, not a single photo. Under "cars" you entered, "Tatum 09",........ A search came up with no such car or truck by that name. I, on the other hand, joined recently, have done a good amount of posting, including introducing myself, "and filling out my profile page" Posting what I do for a living, cars and trucks I own that actually exist. I'm a business owner, and I have over 25 years experience in forums of all types, including automotive forums. There are a number of red flags on your end,... and none on my end. If you can clear up my concerns then sure, we can do business, otherwise I'll have to take a pass. List the manual on ebay, where I have "buyer protection" send me the link to the listing, and I will for sure buy it asap. No offence, but I don't know you,.... is there any long time member here that can speak up for you? Let me know MM ******************************************************************************************* So then I contact Izrl, and he has the same bad vibe off this guy. I message the admin,.... he tracks the IP to Nigeria. OK,......... First clue for me,.... all the great trade items,.... and not one question. Every member would have asked about good items like that, or, it would be like, "any fishing lures?", "any reloading stuff?" You know, like a "Normal Person" My take on this,.... This is an ignorant, uneducated, unemployed, piece of human garbage. (I mean that in the nicest way) Too bad I no longer have any friends in Rhodesia, (now Zimbabwe) Suddenly the problem would go away. Buyer Beware MM
  2. Hey yenpit, My daughter is in Thorton. She's restoring a 1958 4X4 F100 Panel Truck. I don't have any friends up there, could you keep eye a little? She graduated high school with two scholarships in auto shop, and completed the welding course at Valley College. She is smart. But I am concerned. She has a husband, a good guy, who is just like the cool guys here. But, the more eyes the better.
  3. Who remembers "Steve's Bultaco" on Van Nuys Blvd.? Or "Bruno's Corvette" on Ventura Blvd.? I remember! And the "Sherpa T",...... the Bultaco Trials bike. Good times back in the day!
  4. The example I gave was a "Domestic Product", made with "Domestic Materials". Your examples are not, in any way, a fair comparison. And a single holiday, for a select group of people is also not a fair comparison. I think you entirely missed the point of this thread.
  5. Hello, There is no hole in this 720 fender for the antenna. Did some of these units come from the factory without a radio? Thanks MM
  6. The time and location makes a difference. 1975, in the San Fernando Valley, first job in a nice aircraft / aerospace shop,..... $3.50 hr. about exactly $100.00 per week. For doing precision machining and precision grinding. Like this: Two blocks down the street my little studio apt,........$125.00 a month Good Times! MM
  7. Chi-Com trash. BUY DOMESTIC!
  8. You are my new favorite admin of the world. I can spot a mopar rally wheel from a long distance,..... trained by professionals. like "Kelly Thomas" Finding the Hemi rally wheels was like finding gold. Good Times! MM
  9. Very Cool! I see,......I get the picture................... Sure, I'm in! "Younger people of today will never get a sense of what a watershed moment this was in time. Up until this series there was nothing to parallel the fusion of music, coolness and outstanding videography. I have never forgot the day that I saw this particular scene, knowing that I had stumbled upon something special, that was revolutionary for its time" "As a film director, I'm just going to say it. This has to be one of the Top 3 scenes in Television history. The Directing, the Acting, the cinematography, the editing, the storyline, the minimalistic writing to allow the visuals to take center stage, and of course the music...is on a different level. The combination of all those things makes this my favorite TV scene of All-Time" Something Special (just saying) MM
  10. Mike if want me to spill all that I know about Boeing just say the word. I will not run,....I will not hide,....I will not be afraid,....... it's their turn to be afraid I'm just shy of 50 years in the trade, not counting six years in school,....... And I lived right in the midst of those poor excuse for human beings from 1979 to 1984. Just say the word and I spill the beans.
  11. I remember that book! The co-author was, Won Phat Ho. Now -a- days they are paying people to have kids,...... they are worried about a future work force.
  12. That guy is a weasel,.... obviously not getting enough coma in his diet.
  13. Bottom how dare you! I was raised in a Lockheed family! My father worked at Lockheed for 46 years! Boeing - Quantity Lockheed - "Quality" If I could afford a passenger plane,... it would be an L-1011 Boeing = The Enemy I'm a Lockheed guy, born and bred.
  14. Mike,..... I had both hands on the keyboard! No hand held devices involved! You should be ashamed of yourself LOL MM
  15. Hey Mike, I'm sorry. It wasn't on purpose, it was a glitch. I'll try to be more patient,...... it's not easy for me here, I'm in California, surrounded by about million crazy people. I keep thinking some county maintenance clown is going to start cleaning out storm drains,..... and I'll get a knock on the door. (Paradime will get a big kick out of that one.) LOL MM
  16. Poor admin,..... I gotta apologize. I clicked, and it just sat there, so I clicked again, and again. Then I figured my posting privileges had been suspended. So I kept clicking hoping for a reprieve. But the Governor never called,.... just left me hanging. LOL MM
  17. If it had a "340" in it you are my new favorite admin. I lived in Auburn, WA. from 1979 to 1984. Just down the hill from SIR, (Seattle International Raceway) Hung out with the Mopar crowd. Did a lot of head porting and mods for the guys. Some of the best years of my life. Good Times!
  18. Do you remember "1975" I do. (Los Angeles) Gasoline was about 50¢ a gallon An average home cost about $34,000 The weight of the average woman was about 140 lbs The cost of a pair of Levis was about $10.00 / $15.00 The cost of a pizza was about $2.50 / .35¢ a slice Now,....................... Gasoline is about $4.80 / $5.30 An average home cost about $959,400 The weight of the average woman 170 lbs The cost of a pair of Levis about $60.00 / $80.00 The cost of a pizza is about $20.00 - $2.50 a slice Have something to add? Please do. MM
  19. This picture is a good example,......... One computer shows 4 brown bears, another shows 3 black bears. Or, it's a matter of perspective,....... Or the message is, "does a bear shmit in the woods?" When I finish up with this little truck I'm going to budget for a more modern phone. It's obvious I'm missing stuff and getting left behind.
  20. Thanks paradime,....... But I have a creepy feeling that I won't last long enough to get my little truck squared away. Thanks for the hopeful thoughts MM
  21. Sorry but, "font in 14 size", went over my head,....... I simply turned bold the default font size, which is 8. I didn't bump the size, I just made it bold. It may look different on an Apple computer, or a computer with different settings. But for the record, I didn't bump the size, just made the default size bold.
  22. Hello, Just putting this out there,........... My opinion, and that of people in the know, is that overall Quality is nothing compared to years ago. State your opinion, and feel free to give examples. This may go hand in hand with the fact that individuals for the most part aren't as smart, as well educated, experienced, observant, or have the skills in problem solving that the average person had back in the day. I hold the parents and the school system responsible for the most part. I watched a video of a policeman writing a ticket to a Canadian telling them they couldn't use a Canadian drivers license here in the US. (There are more than one of those videos) Another shows a police woman about to, and may have, arrest a driver for his license plate,...... she claimed it was a fake, she stated, "there is no state of "West" Virginia. These examples are screw ups by trained professionals. They are allowed to carry and use a firearm to enforce the law. So just imagine the average person sitting at a bus stop. Don't get me started on Doctors,........ removed the healthy leg? when the other leg was black, shriveled up, and stunk to high heaven? State your opinion, give some funny examples please. MM
