  1. Fuel system is all working. When we originally had installed the Weber and adapter I guess we had stripped out the intake stud holes. So we had to helicoil it when we installed the one piece adapter. everything finally seems to be working like it should. Drove it to work today! also got some marine vinyl and yoga mats and reupholstered the door cards. They turned out pretty decent for a rat rod.
  2. Haha well I know it will run like that. 😆
  3. Disassembled and cleaned carb. Installed a tall one piece adapter, it’s going to be very close to hood when it has a filter on it we will see if it clears. replaced fuel lines and ran a new metal line back to the fuel cell and slowly working on cleaning up the engine bay wiring and odds and ends. Almost ready to put gas in and see if it runs. This freaking truck has been the most temperamental Datsun I’ve ever had and it’s technically not even mine. 2 steps forward one step back. Working hard to get it going for spring and powerland…. Kinda crazy- when we started this thread “datsungirl” and I were just room mates. Now we are married and have an almost 2 year old, in that time this truck has never been even close to reliable. It’s time we get it more dialed In.
  4. Your granddaughter is in high school? Are you Benjamin button? You don’t look old enough to have a daughter in high school, let alone a grand daughter.
  5. Does anyone know the thread pitch of carb studs on a Datsun?
  6. Ordered a 1.75 filter. From pierce… Kinda crazy people make a 1 7/8 inch filter and a 1 3/4 filter… Worst case I’m going to have to slam the hood on it a couple times and get a little squish going on lol… what’s the benefits of the taller filter in terms of a velocity stack?
  7. I already have a two piece cheap adapter I just really want to run the tall adapter… yeah I think you are right it’s really close a short filter will probably hit… I still think I may try it and just see if I can make it work. The one piece adapter is so much nicer.
  8. I cut a big filter in half and test fit the hood and it clears though I think I cut it a bit shorter than your average short filter… probably under a half inch of clearance… I think I’ll be okay maybe have to bend the hood just a tiny bit in the middle.
  9. Anyone running the tall Weber adapter on an l20b 521? Wondering if it will clear the hood with the short air filter I don’t have a short filter yet to test. I’m sure the tall filter will be too tall though.
  10. Got the fuel cell bolted in. Was able to utilize the little tank inspection hole for the dip in the cell to drop down into. Kinda nice didn’t have to fab up any brackets or cut a hole in the bed.
  11. I may have to do something like that as well. Though the space above it doesn’t bug me I kinda like the floating look. I just don’t really like how the brake light looks on these.
  12. Now I need to one up you and have mine do a laser light show when I hit the hazards or something haha 😆
  13. So you beat me to it? Dang it I thought I invented it.
  14. got the sequential turn signals finally working correctly. Had to replace the blinker can with a led specific one. They worked before but didn’t blink all the way across.
  15. Center caps on with new lug nuts. Installed a $20 Amazon train horn. Pretty freaking loud for $20.
  16. I wonder if the gauge operates in the way this diagram shows if there is a way to flip the coil so the gauge now works with less then 10 ohms empty and more than 80ohms full.
  17. So it should work for now opposite. When the truck reads full it is empty and vice versa correct? So would get me by until install an aftermarket gauge?
  18. I am installing a fuel cell with sender in 521. I I understand it the 521 is like 90ohms empty, and 0 ohms full. My sender is 0ohms empty and 90ohms full so opposite. Does that mean if I hook up to stock gauge full will show empty and empty will show full? If so I may run it like that for a bit.

I need the rail that wraps around the front of an l20b with the return line with the small pinhole. The metal lines that run from the fuel pump to carb basically. I want to hook up a factory return line on my truck.

    $20

  20. Thanks we also love it. You had said before you didn’t like the titans on the truck so when I put the billet wheels on it I was thinking “banzai will like it better now” haha I do like a 521 with stock wheels quite a bit, but I think we are going to stick with the old school eagle alloys.
  21. We got the new wheels on. Think it looks much better. Going through the fuel system now again 🤦‍♂️. We had finally dialed everything in with the clutch and the brakes it was running perfectly went back to start it a couple of weeks later, and the carb was plugged up somewhere wouldn’t rev up and was barely pulling fuel. I’m over having fuel issues so I got a fuel cell, and new hard line. Working on installing that now. I’ll try to get better pictures as I work on it.
  22. have had these wheels for awhile finally got around to removing all of the corrosion and polishing them. They are getting tires mounted today!
  23. bump: I have some old eagle alloy wheels I would like to restore, 15 inch billet aluminum. Can someone give me step by step polishing advice? What should I clean them with? They are pretty oxidized and have some pitting. Sand paper, then a bullet attachment on drill? What grits and what polishing compound?
