  1. Girls girls... Truth be told, Frank and I talked about the weekend of the north end meet. However we both wanted to actually go to the north end meet, that being said we might re-open again the weekend of the meet. Any suggestions on how we might enjoy both and not detract from either? Franks place has limited space for a meet (no lot to park everyone in, street parking only) also the reason why unfortunately we can't host other folks tables for parts selling :(  on that note though, I just got back from his place and you literally can't imagine the amount of parts he has, I'm fairly sure you could build several dimes just out the collection he is putting out for this sale! I will post some pics up soon so you can get an idea of the insanity!

  2. Howdy Ratsun friends, Frank and I were chatting and decided we need to put on a Datsun garage sale of epic proportions! For those of you that don't know Frank, he has been doing engine swaps and collecting parts for over 20 years. The amount of parts that he has gathered is nothing short of amazing! Myself and a few other Ratsunites will be adding our collection of parts to this sale as well. We are planning on the weekend of the Sept 14-15 with a possible presale Friday afternoon. It will be held at Franks place in downtown Everett, address to be added as we get closer. We will also be serving lunch and potlucking is welcome!

For a taste of what is to be available:

    Multiple diff's - stock 510, 240z + 240sx

Trannys of all sorts, 4 speed, doglegs, ka's

510 gauge clusters, headlight buckets, and more trim than you can believe. (The car variety ;)

    Flywheels, blocks, cranks & cams from L series, ka's, vg,'s and sr's

Tail lights, side markers, interior, & grills

Fuel cells, maf's, headers, intakes, carbs and dizzys

Basically anything you can imagine for dimes and Datsun engines!!!

Stop by to shop, to talk shop, or just to talk and show off your ride!

  3. I have a L4 219 head with the (I believe) 260Z spray bar modded & shortened on it. It looks just like the one on my buddies 74' 260Z we are rebuilding. It is mounted to the cam towers and gets oil via them. I'm not at my shop or I would take some pictures.

  4. Good god Stupid_fast you are the quick edit master! I did a thorough search before posting this, but upon a google image search I found a thread where it was talked about (slightly)

    http://community.ratsun.net/topic/25202-lz24-buildsome-assembly-required/

While I will NOT be using this on any of my L-Series I thought it at least invited some scrutiny and a chance for anyone with the set-up to give us their experience with it. The stock tensioner has always treated me right (and thousands of others for over 40 years) I cant help being a gear head & I work in automation so any system that employs idler gears over friction tensioners is good engineering in my book

  5. Numbers are great and it seems most people are aiming for squeezing as much power as possible within their budget. I like the idea of big numbers in my dime, however as I have gotten to tune my 510 (L18) and ride/drive other peoples swapped 510s. I consider my 'wants' with my 'needs' and find myself leaning towards a more balanced build. Funny enough living in the NW I have not been able to drive or ride in many other L-series 510s. I bought my 510 with a obviously well used roughly running L18+Su's (L20b Cam), matchbox, dogleg 5sp, & stock diff. I have now tuned the engine, re-built the carbs, installed a 88' suby LSD, & an electric fan. I haven't timed my quarter mile or dyno'd but I will tell you it is FUN! I get up to freeway speeds faster than most other people without trying and keep a steady 70mph @ 4k in 5'th with power to spare. I dont race, drift, or rally my car but when a little fun is possible out in the sticks I can get sideways with no effort and just pulled off a 1080' with proper entrance and exit with no cones hit. I run bfgoodritch 205 tires front and back, and this little L18 roasts them! Admitting my desire for a little more gusto I am building a carbed N.A. KA24DE for the finishing touch on my dime before a 3 year road trip. I honestly love my Datsuns more than any other car I have owned. A street rocket sounds like a blast but these cars have a way of becoming a joy to drive/rally/race regardless of 'numbers'. So short of race specific or 'build it because I can' I think the most important HP is once you drive your Datsun and get "that" feeling!

  6. Dave! Man I'm glad to hear you are improving and you got medical coverage covered. I really want to come down and see you but I understand you have to take it easy, so just keep us informed when visits are welcome :) You have been in my thoughts constantly and I pulling for you to get better quickly and continue to school me on datto's! Much love and hang in there my friend.

  7. I'm guessing you mean the Mustache bar bushings? I looked into several diff bushing options (poly , rubber, ect.) I ended up making my own out of a blown tire I had using two hole saws. I traced the mustache bar washer out on a tire with a silver sharpy, cut the center hole out with a small hole saw bit and then cut the outer out with a larger bit to end up with a multi-layer rubber doughnut. They have been in for several years now and hold firm! Sorry for the crappy old cell pics:

  8. Hit a damn damn deer and it fubar'd my hood, looking for a decent shape straight hood in the greater Seattle area. Surface rust and funky colors are ok, Just want a good solid straight hood I can prep and paint ASAP. I don't own a truck so I will most likely be driving to you with no hood and bolt yours on! I am as broke as it gets so not looking for anything fancy & pricey just a solid hood for my baby. Thx!

  9. IRS goons are awesome! Was the cutting done with a oxy torch? Looks rough for a plasma cut. If it was serious props to the torcher! Cutting upside down under a car with a oxy torch is NOT easy! What diff is going in there? Hope its a LSD :w00t: I have always liked that goon and the driver isn't too shabby ether ;)

  10. Looks like a fun trip and a great idea for a birthday/anniversary! I recently took a road trip from Seattle down to S.F to pick up the inventory of bankrupt neon plant and cut out to 101 the same place you did, the drive was nice but Crescent city was um... interesting & the motel we crashed at had to be the nastiest I have ever stayed at! Wish I could have taken my dime on the trip but it doesn't hold much ;)
