  1. Are you referring to the Sonic meets on Thurs? Yeah, as long as its not raining too hard, I'll be out there w/ my 521. I'm interested to see your frame graft. Up for next Thurs? Lemme know. ~Brian
  2. RAINY! I didn't stay too long. These NWN guys are hardcore. They're cars don't leak like my truck does. ~Brian
  3. ^^ Nice! 4Runners are pimp. I haven't seen a collection of 720's like that for a while. Back home in Waianae there was a guy that had some SLAMMED 720 KC's w/ 15x10's all around. ~Brian
  4. Look like these guys are pretty consistent. I'm going to check it out this Thursday. Anyone care to partake? ~B ...and I checked my calender AND asked the wife. I don't have anything else going on. 85% sure.
  5. Hainz: Much mahalos! They have the 8x1.25 inserts. I may be contacting them this weekend. Lets see is the long ones will hold torque. Funny. That freakin "How-To Rebuild" book says the cam bearings are torqued to 25-33lbs.. No wonder they friggin strip. THANK YOU!!! ~Brian
  6. My prob is that the tower guides that center them onto the block don't look like they'd accept a larger bolt. ~B
  7. Think I'll try it. As long as the longer bolts torque, it should be fine. I'm thinking I should leave the short bolts out all together. They'd cause more havoc it one backed out and started partying w/ the valve train. ~B
  8. Hmmm. Interesting. The ones that are stripped are the short ones that are next to the head bolts. Maybe I can get away w/ it. Has anyone done it? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Anyone? ~Brian
  9. Ever think something is going too well only to find that IT IS! So I finally settle down to my rebuild. The block is prep'd as well as the head. Cam towers snugged down. Bolt the head down and torque it. Cam moves quite nicely. Go to torque the cam towers and FRIKKIN CRAP! A few start getting easier to turn. I back them all out only to find two of them are bring up thread. So I pull everything off and inspect the holes. Helicoil strikes again! Whoever last built this head stripped out the tower mounts and did a shitty job helicoiling the shit back together. I never thought to check this before investing $xxx on the machining of this thing. DOH!!! I only hope they can be re-helicoiled and hold torque. Would've been a nice head. Should I even continue? I'm ready to count my losses and look for an SR. SH!!!!!!T ~Brian
  10. I don't know if i'm in the same boat or that the boat i'm in kinda runs parallel. Trim is awesome and yes, the Datsun trim and body lines give these things MAJOR character. BUT!!! Although i'll never shave a line or a door handle OR a bed hook, I am a major wheel whore. Not to mention I like to update what my stock trim body rides on. :) Props for keepin it real. If you don't like trim or that sexy body curve, go buy a Prius or something! (no offense to Prius owners) ~Brian
  11. You guys import motor sets? Got any SR's for sale right now? ~Brian
  12. Portland Auto Wrecking over in NE Portland off of Columbia Blvd.. I've had luck there before, but I find that either you score big there or you don't score at all. I went back the very next day (yesserday) because I thought I may have forgot somethings and after rumaging the rx7 again I roamed a little and there was flat nothing. Oh well. ~Brian
  13. Bra, fo realz. Frikin drop and exhaust right off the bat! Nah. Rotaries not my trip! ~Brian
  14. Ok, yesterday I hit BIG. On my way home, I was wondering how many others have struck gold. Right place, right time stuffs. I don't think I'm ever going to beat this one. Not Datsun/Nissan related, but I couldn't resist. First off, i walk thru the doors and see this incredible set of 17x8/17x9.5 5-stars w/ Advan Neova tires (ask a drifter friend!). Odd. How the hell did they get a set of JDM drift wheels in a j/y. Curiousity settled as soon as i hit the yard. A RHD FD RX7! Motor check - gone. Suspension and brakes - GOLD! Full set of Tein HA's and Brembo 11.5" X-drilled/slotted rotors w/ calipers. ECU - GOLD!! A J-spec R Magic ECU still plugged in. More??!?! How's about a 3" mandrel cat back exhaust w/ a matching 3" turbo downpipe (missing the cat midpipe) and intercooler w/ HKS piping and couplers. I picked up everything but the wheels/tires. Sadly one of the wheels was cracked and I just couldn't afford them. Too bad though. (2)235/17/40's and (2)255/17/40's. Here's the story on the car as told by the yard manager. Apparently, someone tried to import the car whilst sidestepping customs. It was shipped motorless and I guess was claimed as being only parts! Nope. Wrong. The car was seized and ordered destroyed. The yard rendered it unsalvagable (mild crush) and tossed it w/ the other scrap. Roof and cockpit totalled, but everything else pretty much still intact. The rotors suffered some scruffs from where they dragged the car from the crusher, but they are still true. Oh and BTW, everything is for sale. I don't have one of these RX7's. So if anyone knows someone w/ a '93-'95 RX7, let 'em know. :)
  15. Roost: You may also want to checkout this one particular suspension thread about getting rid of your torsion bars! ;) That would make the downpipe fab a little easier then what Joma had to go through. Where'd you get the SR? Internet? I'm leary about purchasing motors from unknowns. This one looks really clean. Thanks, Brian
  16. Dammit. So much for watching that show again. Did Al leave too?
  17. Wait, I missed the last show. Who got fired? Liz? ~Brian

    L18 Head Bolts

Need some help. DOes anyone have the Nissan p/n for the L18 head bolts? Are they interchangable w/ the L20 and L16? I've been searching ARP kits and they only have and stud kit for the L20B. Makes me think the 4cyl L's share the same bolts/studs. Thanks, Brian
  19. Wow. If have THAT many people coming from out of town, you think we could brainstorm a day event like a dyno day or a quick trip to Woodburn Drag? Even just a Mt. run could be fun. Canby is cool and all, but would out-of-towners like some Saturday action since Saturday is pretty much roll-in?
  20. I thought Shasta was just on hold? Hmm, oh well. I gotta get out more. Mike - Your 320 will be reason enough for me to make it to Canby. ;) ~Brian
  21. TLC. Thursday nights have all the automotive stuffs. ~Brian
  22. Nah. Pics say a thousand words. Memorabelia would jus make me look too stalker-ish. I do hope she keeps her 510 build updated on the site though. Maybe one day we'll see it up at Shasta. ....besides, 510 parts aren't much use for a 521 guy like me! ~Brian
  23. Ok, "who the hell is that?" I know. I would've said the same thing if it wasn't for a 2am fix of American Hot Rod. Liz is the new member of the Boyd crew. This girl is hot! She races (drift, drag, scca). She wrenches. She welds. And she's HOT! Now we come to WHY i'm posting here. Aside from the '68 Camaro that she rolled up in on the show, I found her website (not a stalker, i swear) and she's got a 510 project. OMG!!!!!!!!! Check this out: http://www.milesspeed.com/510/510.htm and her: http://www.milesspeed.com/carshows/carshows.htm Anyone this girl? Let them have their Pam Andersons and Paris Hiltons. I'll take Liz above them all. :) ~Brian
  24. LOL. Sorry. I seen "Old mags" and had to laugh when I saw a hardbody. Sheesh, we're getting old.
  25. When did you visit? I used to be one of the owners. Had to back out when my day job started to take up more of my time.
