As of this afternoon I own the 521 I posted a while back. there is some question about whether it's a '71 like the door tag says,or a '72 like the title says. I paid $400 for it,& the previous owner gave me a bedliner,a canopy,& the bumperettes (no brackets though ,gotta find some.) I am buying an L20b & 5 speedad soon as I can get together with the guy that has them. Now I have to either change all the locks,or have keys made. I'll be posting my build /resurection thread soon.
  3. I officially own a 521 as of this afternoon. The door tag says it's a '71, but the title saus it's a '72. Same one I posted a while back. I'm buying an L20 & 5 speed as soon as I can catch up with the guy that has them. I'll be posting my first build thread soon.

I really like the wood bed floor idea. I thought about doing domething similiar, kinda like is done on older full size pickups, some of those kits look really good. My bed floor is rusted through, but the bedsides look fine. Putting in a wood bed floor would be more poSsible for me than welding in a different metal floor, since I don't know how to weld yet. I've planned on patchimg the rusted through spots, then covering the bed interior with a paint on bed liner, but the wood floor idea would probably look better.

Are these wheels widened stock rims,do the dogdish hubcaps work on them,& how/ where can I get a set for my '71 521 ?
  6. I have often used both types of code, whichever one works for where i'm posting the picture (Ratsun,or Facebook usually). I don't have a functional pc,I just use my smartphone, which I chose SPECIFICALLY because of it's camera quality. I would almost never take pictures if I had to remember to bring a camera with me everywhere I go. I ALWAYS have my phone with me though. The Photobucket app works well from my phone, although using my phone with Ratsun is kind of a pain in the ass. I often forget which code is for Ratsun,& which is for facebook. Your tutorial is great, but it would be good if someone could add a section, or post a different tutorial about how to get the best pictures for Ratsun postings using a smartphone.
  7. hell yes you should bring it! I'll be looking for it. I like the early Celica's.
  8. I live next door to the Canby fairgrounds,so I'll be there for sure. I don't lnow if my 521 will be on the road yet,but my Goon will be there either way.

Looks great!! Making my jealous &.wishing I had mine home already so I could get to work on it! Where'd you get the loweri.g kit from?
  10. its pretty much a done deal, right now I'm looking for a trailer&truck to haul it home.

That is BAD ASS!! Now I really want that COE! Maybe on a later gm 1 ton dually frame, like Zchopper said, or on a flat bead tow truck chassis, since that's what i'de use it for anyway.
  13. I'll check it out. I'm really hoping the stock caps will fit on the chrome wheels I have now. I just think that would look good. Maybe I could have stock steel wheel centers put into wider rim width wheels.

the 620kc hit a deer, but i've seen people save worse. The '52 chev is for sale, but I don't know the price. I told the guy that I'd like to have that COE truck (it's a GMC ),when he decides to part with it. I think it'd make a great car hauler, maybe with the cab on a different frame.
  16. It's pretty much a done deal, just a matter of moving it now,&giving him $. My plan is to get it driveable, reliably, then fix things after that. My wagon is due for shocks, struts & brake upgrade, plus various other things i'd like to clean up,so i'd like this truck to be available to drive when I need it. I like this particular truck too much to pass on it. Now I just need to track down the parts to repair it.
  17. Love what you've done with this 521 !! I really like the diamond tuck'n' roll interior panels, might have to go that route for my truck, except maybe off white instead. I really like the rims &.stock caps too. I have 3 chrome moon style on mine (well,it will be very soon amyway),& want to use the stock "dogdish" caps on them if possible, with white lettering ,instead of the whitewall stripe that looks great on your truck. If not that wheel & cap combo, then it will be old school slot mags. I really like the tin top dash idea, with a guage pod possibly too. Your truck is an awesome example of a restoration! Mine will be more like a 70's era mini truck resto-mod.

can we get a side view of this truck? I'm thinking of getting a aet of those rocker panel stripe decals off e-bay for my 521.
  19. I'll pass that along, but at less than half his original price I don't know if he'll go for it. It has a rebuilt engine, but hasn't been started. he has the title now also.
  20. I just replied to your status, then saw this thread. Is that a.15" crome moon wheel? I'm short 1 to have a set,if mine don't end up being too rusty, maybe I'll need more if you have them. Plus the other parts I mentioned when I commented on your status. Please let me know if you have any of this stuff. Thanks! -Loren

The owner has a bunch of old vehicles up there, mostly old trucks & mostly pretty rusty. The busses are REO's, there are several 50's big GMC trucks, a 48 -51 Ford panel, a Ford Vanette (step van) from the same era, a 50's GMC coe truck,a few GMC & Chevy pick ups from the same era& a bunch of Datsun 620's. Also the 67 Datsun 411 I have posted for him in the "for sale" thread is there.

Here's the one i'm getting as soon as I can find a trailer& truck to tow it with.
  23. The owner of the 521 i've been thinling about getting stopped by my NAPA job & said if I still wanted it to come pick it up & pay him when I get the money. I need to find a trailer & truck big enough to tow it with.

Could you rent a truck and trailer!?

I think that truck looks sweet. I'd be all over that.

  24. I talked to the owner of this car today,& mentioned that some people thought the price was a bit steep, considering the rust in the rockers. He said that the pri,e was meant as a starting point,& people could make offers for it. Pm me & I'll pass your reasonable offers along to him. Thanks!
