I disagree Rick. I thought Mike's post showed a fair amount of imagination. The Canby show isn't much of a Pilgrimage for me, since I live here in Canby already. I also tend to agree with Flatcat, that Canby may not quite be a "Holy City", but I have lived in worse places for sure. I look forward to the yearly arrival of the Datsun Faithful!

I have been collecting the parts to fix my 510 wagon. Right now i'm debating if I need camber plates,or if 210 top hats are enough. I already have the replacement struts/spindles,cut down for VW Rabbit inserts,& using coilover collars,made by Draynor. My current brake rotors are probably overdue for replacement, if I can find some new ones. I am also going to be installing the lowering blocks I got from Joel a few years ago, & a bigger sway bar also. I will also be swapping out the Weber DGEV,for a set of SU's I got from Jeremy. The Weber will be going on my '83 720 ST,since I took it's old Weber for my 521 last summer. As for the 510 being worth more, that doesn't really matter to me, because none of my Datsuns are going to be for sale. My children have already asked for them when they're old enough.

My 510 runs,but it's been sitting for about a year & a half because parts of the front suspension are worn out. I have been mostly focused on my 521 for several years, & I had let some things on the 510 slide.

I will say that it sure is nice to have a Datsun to drive again,especially after riding the bus to work most of this last year. Now I get to whatever destination, & am a little disappointed that the drive is over,& look forward to the drive home.

Well,I am daily driving it right now,but I do have 2 other Datsuns that I would like to also be able to drive at a moment's notice. My 510 wagon isn't too far from being drivable & the 720 will get there after I go pick up the replacement engine from Tim.I need to get some stuff done on my Riviera, before it gets worse.

Thank you!Yes,it's running & driving now. I have 2" lowering blocks,& if I decide to go lower, I still have a pair of 720 4x4 leaf springs. I don't know if I'm going to go very low with it though,after taking the truck camping last summer. I may use the 4x4 leafs,& my other set of blocks on my 83 720 ST instead. The 521 is my daily driver for the time being at least. My wagon needs a bunch of suspension work, & I need to get either camber plates,or 210 top hats before it can be done.

Seems like a good time to post an update on my truck. I will try to post some pictures as soon as I get around the whole Photobucket thing. I drove my truck to the Eugene show,& also Datsuns around Bend last summer. It had some kind of breakdown both times,but it got me there. There were some problems with the carburetor, that have been fixed, & the major problems on the way home from Bend have been repaired. It turned out that when my friend assembled the engine, he forgot to install the guide pins between the block and the head. The gasket (and likely the head itself) moved,& caused the head gasket to get damaged eventually blowing out at the #4 cylinder. Al,Hogie,Draker,Jim, & myself all worked on it weekend before last,fixed that,& reinstalled the distributor drive in the correct position in one day. Thanks also to Joe Yantis for the ride from Wilsonville to Eugene, so I could get this stuff done. The truck runs & drives great now! I promised Al I wouldn't Hot Rod the truck around until after it breaks in again. The temptation is strong ,but I am taking it easy. I didn't get to drive my truck at all yesterday, but that is the first day I haven't driven it since I drove it back from Eugene last weekend. I can hardly wait to drive it to Silver Falls on May 5th!

When is the next Datsuns NW meeting?

Are there any updates on the cruise people wanted on Saturday? I talked with Steven & a few other people who attended the Sonic meet about an idea I had for the cruise,& the reaction seemed fairly positive. Alot of people will have just been at Silver Falls the month before,so I thought why not go somewhere else for this cruise. My idea is to head out to Barton Park. It's a nice drive,some nice curvy roads on the way there & there is another long time running event going on that I have heard many people talk about wanting to see. We could cruise out to Barton Park,hang out for a little bit, then head head back to Canby. This gives at least 2 clubs /events the opportunity to support each others event (3 clubs,if you count the club I am part of,since I will be organizing the cruise). I like the idea,& so far everyone I have talked to about it did also. If not,there is still time to choose a different destination/route. Think about it.

I will finally be able to bring my 521 to this event. I am taking it easy,until the engine breaks in,but I hope to be able to have a little more fun with it by May 5th!

Nope,just haven't had a working cel to get on here and post about it myself. Also,Hogie is right about my not being a fan of the trolling. I know how everyone is about pics,so I need to choose a new way to post them here,since Photobucket went to shit.

I would like to say Thank You to the leadership & members of Both Datsuns NW, & Northwest Datsun owners Association, of course Wilsonville SONIC crew & management, as well as to everyone else who supported our 4th annual Wilsonville SONIC meet last Saturday night! We had a great turnout, & I feel like this event gets bigger and better year by year. We sincerely appreciate the support from the other clubs,for our events,& we will most definitely be looking for opportunities to return the favor & support their events also ! I see that a link to Steve Wishman's fantastic video from the event was posted, but I am going to post it again, because it gives such a nice overview of the event. Once again, Thank You to all who have supported &/or attended this event over the last 4 years! - Loren

I am looking forward to this so much! I have an idea or two (just off the top of my mind) for a fun run. I will talk to Steven,& others at Wilsonville SONIC this Saturday. As for Silver Falls,there are multiple ways to get there, I am sure. We will be having our annual Silver Falls event in May,as always, so I will see if we can find a fun route there & back,for The Canby event. Steven, we'll talk at SONIC about other ways myself, & possibly other members of Datslocos Oregon who are willing,& could be useful to help out during Canby. I like the idea of all the clubs helping each other, but you all already knew that.

So glad to hear this is going as usual this year! I was a little bit worried all those freak festival people were going to completely take over the fairgrounds this year.

Do either of imagur,or postimage have a mobile app for Android? I still only have my smartphone for internet. I haven't had a desktop computer in years.

It's time to mark your calendars, & get your Datsuns ready. We will be having our Annual Wilsonville Sonic meet Saturday,January 13th. We will start around 6pm,& finish when everyone leaves (around 10pm?) I hope you all are able to attend!

I was wondering how this meet went. If I had a drivable Datsun, I would have gone. I have also had a couple meets that at first people sounded like they were going to attend, then only myself,or myself & Al showed up for. Try not to let it get you down. Keep trying, sometimes it's whether related, sometimes people just have too many other things going around the same time. I think that as people start to realize you do this,they will start showing up more.
