  1. Gotta love the cargo carrying capabilities of a goon.

It sure came in handy in picking up my birthday treat for myself.

Tomorrow I'll work on getting the cables behind the wall and installing a recessed outlet behind the TV.

  3. Have you tried to check a K+N catalog to see dimensions of other filters they may have to work on a carburetor? also look at companies like pierce manifold for adapters but I bet K+N will be closer to finding something

  4. A question a lot of people should ask themselves is what do they plan to do with the car. I have seen so many people cut or hack up or take out stuff from the car to make it light or lighter for so called racing and then get upset when they get beat by someone with full interior parts or without doing so much gutting. case in point when I did hondas for a while I would bring out a street car or car with interior not cut up and beat or run same or better times at the drag strip than guys who cut up the car and took out every little piece. Not saying weight does not matter but hate seeing these great cars get cut up or parts ripped out when there is no need.

  5. Got a tool kit from my work as a gift for being there for 5 years of service and took the tools and put them in my Nostalgic Hero tool pouch I got from the NOS2DAY car show in Japan. While at it cleaned out the glove box and changed out the flashlight batteries.

also may have found some filters for my mikuni's, been wanting some for some time.

  6. I have been using the falken ziex 512 from discount tire direct in 195-60-14 and for street driving they are not bad. not loud, grips well and tracks good at pretty high speeds given you have a good alignment.

I have had the sumitomo HTR 200 did not like those that much

normally I am more of a big yokohama fan

  7. I have a pertronix on my 510 and swapped the bosch blue coil with a pertronix unit and took out the ballast but I don't know if I am just thinking weird but seems like the bosch coil ran better than the pertronix coil and wanted to switch back but it has been a while and totally forgot where everything goes back to stock so does anyone on here have a diagram to back up what I think are the correct way the wires should go back to the ballast and bosch coil? any help will be appreciated

I saw a post in the how to but does anyone have wiring colors to clarify where they go to?

  8. okay i think this is my plan! Im gonna buy these KYB's http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/KYB-4-GR-2-SHOCKS-NISSAN-DATSUN-510-68-69-70-71-73-/400154286415?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5d2b0dd94f

Put ground control coilovers on front and d50 springs in rear. Just because they are good price, I would rather have a 280zx assembly but this seems really easy to do.

that price seems ok. I may have a set of NOS tokico HP's for 160+shipping. I have to double check. you can always cross over the shocks and coil overs to the ZX assembly as they share the same shocks and coilovers are pretty much the same. you just may have to get a new ring to weld onto the ZX housing to support the ground controls but not hard to get. so far so good on your end. you can IM me your email so I can send you pics also of stuff that i have done

  9. Yeah the ones on there now look like they have been cut. I think what ill do is throw the ground control coilovers on the front for now until i can get better struts, because i have a budget and a list of stuff i want to do. The way I understand it, you can not put those ground controls in the rear because they use different mounting. So I heard replacing the rear shocks with ram 50 springs is a good upgrade! is this true? I'll replace all the parts you listed too.

Could i just pull the zx assembly you mentioned off a 2880z i have layin around? i wanted to put disc brakes in the rear as well.

    Thank you for the help!

if it were me I would at least get new shocks and change while you have the car apart. shocks like KYB or even a tokico HP are not that bad in price. remember cars do cost money to maintain and this is a area you should not skimp on. you can use the ZX struts and brakes as a direct swap but from what I remember you can't use 240-280Z stuff as it is different. some guys also use the zx struts assmblies and shorten the housing and use MR2 or VW inserts for more shock travel and then use the coil overs. this makes for better ride and travel for a lowered car.

as for the rear the ground control coilover kit or ermish or Techno toy are nice but if on a budget try to source out those dodge d50 springs if you can. to save money you can find sway bars on sites like this from people who may have used ones from back in the day or doing a sr or ka swap. try calling shops like DGR fab in santa clara I believe as they have used ones sometimes they can sell for a decent price for the front. Or check craigslist for used parts. I found many parts used and saved a lot of money just takes time and some elbow grease to get it all to work. I know how you feel I was 16 once and had a Z as my first car and worked and used all the money I had to buy parts and made it nice. I was glad I listened to others before me as the car had come out nice and to this day I use that same philosophy and it works.

  10. Hey I'm 18 just bought myself my first project car, a '72 510 and i want to buy some lowering coilovers and sway bars. I cant find anywhere online that suggests what ones to buy or who to contact that would know. I'm looking for the best bang for my buck because I'm on a budget.

    Please help me!

Hi and welcome to ratsun. I can try to help with advice and maybe sales if need be.

the cars are pretty old and if you are looking to get the most out of the suspension look at the parts you have first. look at all items like shocks springs, bushings, steering parts like ball joints and tie rods and such. I would replace all those items first and while at it get new shocks and springs if needed which most likely you will as the car is pretty old. I sell and like using ground control coil overs. the other companies people directed you to are good also. Techno toy sells ground control so they are good to go with. Troy Ermish makes his own stuff using nice parts. if you want shocks you can use anything from KYB and Tokico HP or spend money for the nicer adjustable shocks but to be honest you will be fine with new standard performance shocks from the brands I mentioned. also make sure you get a aligment also. if you have more questions feel free to ask or message me

PS you can also get a ZX front brake set up and strut assembly and that will help with braking upgrade for low cost and still use coil overs. pretty easy and common upgrade

  11. Is it possible to subscribe to G-works from the US?

as of now don't think so but I am looking into it but I think you would for now have to go to a japanese bookstore like Kinokuniya and buy it or have someone get it for you. I have been buying mine in japan or my local bookstore but the bookstores stateside charge like double for it to cover yen rate changes. when I go to japan I sometimes order back issues of other magazines as one of the warehouses is near my friends place and a bike courier drops it off to us. if you want me to get you issues I can

  12. You have JNC translated into what language? My fav is AutoWorks but it's in Japanese.

    Pics are good though

  14. im interested in the inner scrappers but r they for a two door r four door thanks

they are factory units that are sort of cut to fit. they can fit all models, 2dr,4dr and wagon. I used these on my wagon and they were great. the hardest part was getting the old ones out of the original location but once out the new ones install easy
