  1. that is why I suggested the super turbo. cheap, good flow, not loud or obnoxious. borla or dynomax straight through design mufflers are nicer but sometimes can be loud. pretty much now at days all my cars have super turbo mufflers on them. have done dyno comparisons on many cars and muffler variations and never see a monstrous gain or any from a superturbo to a straight through design. but hey up to you if you are set on it then go for it

  2. if this is a stock datsun muffler you should see a gain but as to how much not sure as there are other variables but just a switch to something more free flow will usually gain. if you don't want it to be loud just use a superturbo. cleaner looking and under the radar.

  3. you are so lucky to have a wife who likes cars and likes Z and wants a project. that is a clean start. brings back memories for me. I had a 240Z with the same wheels in high school and had so much fun in that car. email me at bull_ogna@hotmail as I got this book magazine of a lot of Z's modified in japan for ideas you may want to use I can email you pics.

  4. Brian (hang_510) came up from So cal to my house and it was nice to meet him and talk 510 talk or cars in general. He is a cool guy. He stopped by to meet me and pick up some tokico illuminas and my Z24 shortblock also on his way up to a swap meet in sacramento. that is love to travel so far to meet people. wish I can meet more people like him soon

  5. yeah I live in sf and me and my friends take public transportation and see that old man at times on various buses. He is sort of nuts or not all there at times but it is funny seein him unload on that fool. lately there is a lot of fights on public transportation up here. I am sure some of you all seen the chinese lady beat up a black lady video also. my coworkers kids know that black ladies kids and they clown the kids sayin your mom got beat down. sad when you start a fight or pick on people and someone sets you straight.

  6. it is only necessary if you route the hose from the breather back to the intake track but since you have that breather on the valve cover then no need. not like you are trying to make it pass any visual inspections but if that were the case that intake would be illegal anyways. I would just cap it so not to take in any debris back into the intake

  7. Personally I say do what you want it is your car. cars are extensions of the owner. aftermarket industry and customizing is what keeps a lot of us going. I do see where a lot of people are going as these cars are great and lots of people are purist. I myself like the 510's the old school way and at the most a swap but to each is their own. I get a vibe a lot of people don't like the marrying of honda and datsun or making these cars seem so called Riced out. I guess it seems like mods are more trouble than they are worth but if you have the time and money go for it.

  8. if they are new they should of come with instructions but seems like they did not. what I do is cut off the stock spring perches and then grind smooth and then slide the weldable ring and then the sleeve and position the sleeves just under the threaded cap for the strut insert. the cap keeps the sleeve from moving. at this point position the weldable ring and mark or tack weld into place and then take the cap and the sleeve off and then weld completely and when completed paint and put all together. if you need instructions I can maybe fax them to you or get it scanned to email to you or contact ground control and they should be able to send to you

i too was thing the zx route while im putting the coilovers on

the zx struts with coil overs will help a lot. i highly recommend looking into using a mr2 insert and make the body of the zx strut assembly shorter and be able to use the mr2 shock. if you go this route you most likely will need to use a camber plate kit also. look at your suspension parts also to check for wear and age and replace like ball joints and tie rods and bushings. makes a big difference.

  10. are you trying to talk me out of the illuminas?

i also combined this with a 69 xmember to do away w/the RCA.

im going to get my stuff over the 20th-21st weekend/swapmeet, if you want to pay him and have me bring it it back...

im looking for a better set of 2" blocks...

haha good one. let me know when and if you need or want the shocks as I have to go pick them up and have them ready for you

  11. if the idler arm is not broken and just the bushings are worn out contact carter boad at vg30.com as they sell a delrin idler bushing kit. you can also get it from design racing products. I just got the vg30.c0m unit and will install soon.

as for the rear of a wagon I recently replaced the stock rubber bushings with oem rubber units. if you need some let me know as I can get them still. I can get the rear eye leaf and front eye leaf rubber and also the rear eye leaf can work for the upper chassis mount. if you need kyb shocks I get those also

  12. that is a sweet setup. sounds like you got it all set up right. seems like dual 44's or 45's work well for LZ2.2's. I myself run dusl SK45's and heard Steve Epperly uses Z Su's for LZ2.2's. seems like a good set up for many dual su intake manifolds. how much did those carbs set you back?

  13. I agree to use the zx strut housings and brakes. way better. for me on my goon I used this set up with ground controls and tokico hps and roll center spacers and it worked great. no negative camber and no tire wear. I was able to lower the front a good two inches. If I were to do it again I would maybe use the mr2 inserts and mod the strut body to make it shorter for more travel but if I go this route I have a feeling I would need a camber kit as the car would be lower now with the shorter body struts making the lower arms to go up higher and causing negative camber.

if you need coil overs and camber kits PM me as I do offer them at decent prices.
