  1. Shes not going anywhere. Id probably give it up for $8000... which is high. I dont need nor want to sell, so it was easy to pass on the offer. Im hoping this car sticks around for awhile. Then over the years as I fix it up, I can pass it down. Yep, not in it for the money. If I was I think Im doing it wrong since I spend so much on it. I agree though, once youre in it for the money or the trophy... youve lost touch with whats important.
  2. Garnish permanently installed now. In the process of building brand new taillight harnesses and getting the stuff to finish up my headlight relay wiring. Turned down a $6000 cash offer today. Only slightly tough to say no. Mintys not going anywhere... B) Edit: At first I was offered the guys 2.5RS. I passed and then he offered cash. Neither were a good enough offer to take the Dime away from me. $6000 is probably more than its worth, but since I don't need to sell, invested sentimental value bumps up my value a good chunk.
  3. With these being L blocks, has anyone built an LZ23/24 to give the boat some extra oomph?
  4. Its a vintage enema. The height of the glass jar supplies the pressure... Thats actually the worst place to be for that picture.
  5. Yep. Zero rust restoration and no engine pulling in three owners (including myself). Prior to me owning the car, above general maintenance there was a sunroof installed, crappy repaint (no body work), and the exhaust manifold was replaced due to being cracked. Otherwise everything else is original. Im sure cars are better here compared to your area, but you said you had never seen older cars in good stock condition. Just saying there are plenty around. You take car of your car and the car will take care of you. You may also want to take a look at a video I posted where two Chevys built 50yrs apart crashed into each other at 40mph. Older car demolished. Newer car fine comparatively. Im not a fan of too many newer cars (I dont ever plan on owning any of them), but the technology is pretty impressive. For safety reasons, I would want to be in a newer car hands down for any crash above like 15mph.
  6. Im at 44 years with a [what was] mostly original 510. There were only a few replaced items before I got it and it ran pretty well. No "major overhauls" and no "hundreds of replacement" parts.
  7. He was having some privacy issues I believe, so he had it hidden and planned to come back and reorganize everything. Busy with life so he hasnt made his triumphant return. Hotwheels keeps his schedule full.
  8. A lot of it is done on the street... Yes. I'm not one for any kind of ridiculous street driving though. I barely even speed :D
  9. You live in that area? I used to live on Venice Blvd.
  10. I'm all for a little Initial D, but its not the end all be all of street driving (like a lot of fanbois like to think haha).
  11. The only issue with this setup is there's no indication of failure. When the switch or component goes bad, the fan won't kick on and you'll have no idea until you start overheating. You can minimize this buy buying a quality kit, but you still assume a bit of risk.
  12. You misunderstand. I'm not saying they are the same thing, not at all. I'm saying that drifting came from touge. Maintaining speeds through windy corners, trying to pass the leader, etc are all common elements. Not the same, but share the same roots. I prefer touge as there is a clear and definitive winner and the cars are built for all around effectiveness instead of power and steering angle.
  13. 2013 Vipers shot by a good friend of mine:
  14. That looks like thats at the roundabout at the Venice Torso. In between the Post Office and the Westminster Dog Park. I used to live in Venice.
  15. Every once in while you find crate motor A-series come up for sale, but they are crazy expensive and not a reliable source for an engine. Rebuilding is your best bet or finding another good running engine used. Id recommend rebuilding if you can afford the parts/labor/downtime and if not, head over to our classifieds section and make a WTB.
  16. You could also relay them right off the battery as well. That should juice them up nicely. Glad the install worked out and youre up and running.
  17. Tristin

    Parts wanted!!!

Post a WTB in the classifieds.
  18. Or do it like real grassroots Japanese drifting (read: touge)... do that shit downhill on mountain twisty switchbacks. Id watch that in a heartbeat.
  19. No need for two threads buddy...
  20. http://www.youtu.be/NMa--2gni7E
  21. You cant say its all bad. Remember that Chevy vs. Chevy video I posted? Some of it is some pretty lame stuff, but 90% of it seems to be quite effective.
  22. Yep, too many people dying after head-on radio collisions.
