Wharf Rat
Anyone know how well a 77 620 engine will survive if I feed it some Nitrous Oxide? A buddy gave me a basic kit I forgot I had. Thinking it would be fun to have on my old truck when a punk in a civic or like is messing around at the lights! Thanx WRAT Quote Link to comment
Skib
one way to find out :D Quote Link to comment
Wharf Rat
Thats what I was thinking too! Quote Link to comment
philip1
be sure to add fuel with the nitrous and pull timing while on it. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
If you manage to burn twice the fuel you should get twice the power. Think about that for a moment. Twice the heat = pinging= (melted/broken pistons). Twice the pressure on a gasket and head bolts made to contain 90 hp. Twice the pressure on the rod bearings. "...careful, you could blow the welds on your intake..." Edited February 25, 2009 by datzenmike Quote Link to comment
philip1
Yup, the naws is a powerful oxidizer. The carb has already mixed 14.7 parts of air with 1 of fuel so adding more oxygen won't do anything. The naws needs something to burn with like more raw fuel. yes or it will find something more precious to burn like pistons Quote Link to comment
Wharf Rat
Thanx I'll have to do some research on how to dump some more fuel in at the same time. Or just sell the kit! Quote Link to comment
philip1
if it's a dry kit you will need a second solenoid, a nozzle that mixes, the appropriate fuel feed and some way to get it into the engine (plate or direct into the mani. Quote Link to comment

hughdogz
You might also need a dedicated (second) fuel pump for the wet nitrous system too. My friend Bryan has been melting pistons in his drag-race Nitrous-powered 280ZX for about ten years now. Edited February 25, 2009 by hughdogz Quote Link to comment
