Drummerboy4as
any low cost vendors or locals want to sell me one cheap! What did they quote you in Rancho? Was it Nissan only wreckers? Quote Link to comment
Lozer
I was quoted 1300.00 minus a few dollars. now i dont expect a freebie but i can buy a whole friggin 240sx with rear damage for that. or a beat down truck with a ka 24e for way less then half that. Drummerboy4as
Damn! That's engine tranny and harness? You'd be better off grabbing one from a PnP. I've been looking for a ka24e myself, with no luck. For a while there the 240sx guys were yanking the 2.4 and using the sr20's. The ka's were damn near free. Not so much anymore. Lozer
NO thats engine harness and ecu. no trans at all. Ill buy a whole damn car for that. Quote Link to comment
ichorid
I found mine on zilvia.net for 330, with the ecu and harness. It needed a rebuild but I wanted one that I could have rebuilt any how. no tranny but you can source those easier than the engine. http://orangecounty.craigslist.org/pts/1025549085.html http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sgv/pts/1045792875.html http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/pts/1039871515.html check out crazedlist.org lets you search as many cities as you're willing to drive too. gl! there is a guy on this forum, and the 510realm 280zforce I think is his handle. I think he may still be selling one complete that needs a new timing chain cover. Hit him up. Edited February 24, 2009 by ichorid Quote Link to comment
WagDatto
I was going to say... Go to Zilvia.net or craigslist. Zilvia has a lot of CA people who are swapping in SR20's to their 240sx's and typical sale price is 400-600 for engine, tranny, harness, ecu, MAF.. Full motorset. Quote Link to comment
ichorid
Crazian609, is a user on zilvia. this is a PM I got from him when I asked about an engine for sale less than a month ago. "I Have 3.... I just blew mine that was running recently yesterday... Overheated and fried the piston rings.. that engine is complete S13 bottom with S14 head .... 10 psi on every cylinder.... I also have a stripped down Bare block and another S13 KA with a rebuilt Head" they are out there, and are really a lot less than any yard is going to ask for. Quote Link to comment
Hyphy
---thread hijack-- you dont mind im sure :P While u guys are thinkin bout this. What about sourcing an entire vg30et swap (motor, trans, ecu, harness)? I was qouted 1500 from rancho nissan guys. Not many mid 80's 300zx's for sale that are turbo locally. Found one, hopin my tax return shows before he finds a buyer tho. Quote Link to comment
Lozer
DAMN MY SHITZ GOTS JACKED!!!! but here are some local na cars i found for you. Ive owned 2 turbo 300zx and i never bought one for more then 1500. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/cto/1043758322.html http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/cto/1049530024.html Quote Link to comment
Hyphy
saw both of those...the second was tempting, but its a bit ambiguous and ultimately its the turbo one i want... Quote Link to comment
Hyphy
Screw it. Im just gonne get the whole deal from Rancho. Has anyone used them before for full swap motors? pros/cons? Im thinking ill need to rebuild the motor anyway, possibly the trans. I plan on using California Street Machine in Suisun for the engine rebuild depending on the numbers. I should be hearing back from them soon. Quote Link to comment
WagDatto
Noooo! Honestly, if you pay more than 700 for a full KA swap you're doing something wrong! If you're that desperate, I'll help you find something so you aren't getting ripped off! For pricing purposes: http://zilvia.net/f/sale-items/241857-fs-1995-ka24de-5-speed.html ^That's a full swap, tranny, motor, harness, etc for 650. You'd be paying TWICE that for the same thing MINUS THE TRANNY! Sacramento ads: http://sacramento.craigslist.org/pts/1044923232.html http://sacramento.craigslist.org/pts/1046691753.html http://sacramento.craigslist.org/pts/1045273517.html http://zilvia.net/f/sale-items/239837-ka24de-w-89k-warranty.html PLEASE DON'T PAY MORE THAN $700 FOR A KA SWAP!! You're getting ripped off! Quote Link to comment
ichorid
just and wait for something to come up, look for one that needs rebuilt. They are out there. what Rancho was asking is outrageous. Quote Link to comment

WagDatto
Haha, Hyphy... TOTALLY thought you were Lozer cuz you stole his thread. N0rcal, I dunno where you're located, but any of the links I posted could work for ya. Disclaimer: Unless you know the person you're buying from or personally drove the car before the motor was pulled, I'd suggest a quick compression check in any motor you think about buying as well as resealing from the headgasket up, just to be sure. Hyphy
I have a complete setup from a 86 720 4x4 5 speed.( z24 motor.. 2 spark plugs per cylinder for the win). Its on a rolling chassis thats been stripped. hella cheap. Was gonna put it in my 521, but the 'Go big or go home' bug hit me Quote Link to comment
Lozer
if i had a z24 i would go with a frankenstien motor. with a closed chamber head and a long throw crank for torque. cheap and easy compared to a major motor swap. Quote Link to comment
