what
I was just wondering if any of you guys have ever elimintated the stock 10 gallon tank on your 521 pickup for a 15-20 gallon one off of a diffrent car or truck that will tuck up underneath similar to the stock tank? I can pickup a 1966 elcamino 20 gallon tank for super cheap but not sure of how to mount it as there isnt much room in there. I want a bigger tank because this is my daily driver and i get tired of going to the gas station all the time. Thank you for you help/advise. Quote Link to comment
Llittle_Llama
what kind of gas mileage are you getting? Quote Link to comment
what
average about 18 mph. Its a stock L16 with mallory ignition, weber 32/34, header with 2 1/2 exhaust and a dogleg 5 speed. I just went out there and measured my tank and relized there is just no room under there. I think i will just get a couple of cans and keep them filled up at home. Quote Link to comment
motavated
why dont you build a saddle tank? Get this tool box and convert it. Or build a new one... http://forum.ratsun.net/showthread.php?t=6281 Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Remove the spare and throw in the box. You should be able to mount a 'late '70s early '80s 30 imperial gallon Bronco tank in there.. or something squarish. Quote Link to comment

Justin
18 mpg sounds a little "off" to me, might indicate another problem...? Perhaps your ride needs a tune-up/carb/timing adjustment? Huge tanks are nice, until you pull up to the pump  Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Yeah you should be close to 30 with o/d 5spd. Probably that Weber needs re-jetting. They aren't as good as the stock MPG, but can be tuned close. Quote Link to comment
Llittle_Llama
that's what I was thinking, maybe after you get it dialed in right, you will feel less of a need for a new tank. Quote Link to comment
slodat
my 521 has a '83 mustang fuel tank mounted between the frame rails just aft of the rear axle. Quote Link to comment
