Jason
Now that I think about it Ted, I think you're looking for one of the NapsZ 5 speeds for the 720. The 85 I think had a Z24..... Link to comment
Jason
Shorty NapsZ 5 speed too. Good luck.... Link to comment
datzenmike
Z24 motors were used in '84 through '86. You could also get the Z24i in '86 through '88. The difference (I think) in length was because of it's use in either a 2wd or 4wd with transfer case. I don't remember which length was used with which but it appears that the long tail stock (mine) was used with the 4X4. Link to comment
tdaaj
his is a 4x4 with a shorter trans Link to comment
datsunaholic
The short one was a 4X4 one. The 720 used 2 kinds of NAPS-Z 71B transmissions- '81-early 83 were all the same, longtail type. Only difference was the 4X4 one didn't have a speedo cog. The 2WD tranny remained unchanged through the end of the 720 in midyear '86. In midyear '83 the 4X4s switched from the divorced T-case to a "Married" T-case and a shorter tailsection, though the 2 components unbolt. 1 Link to comment
