Well, that's not the same transmission. No bottom cover. As for what transmission it is, can't really tell from below. The single "ear" on the back indicates to could be a 71-series 5-speed.

i will recheck the tranny..im pretty sure the 1st pic is a 5 speed...2nd pic is 5 speed for sure as i drive it daily...:D

Im just wondering...can i fit another L series ( L18, L20B ) head on the L16 block?

 

ie :

 

L16 Block + L18 / L20B head ?

 

or

 

L16 Block + L16 Head + L18/L20B cam?

 

 

if possible...if...which will be the best setup? im not sure about the water jacket or the inlet/outlet size...will it fit?

Didn't you just acquired that SSS car?

Check the cylinder head, it's the sought after cylinder head if it's still has the true SSS head. It's stamped with 219 on the front or the side of the spark plug area.

yes.. i hav 2 sss now...hehe..:D ...1 of it is in overhauling process..

 

i can only spot A87 writing on the head...:mellow:
