Fan clutch removal for electric fan replacement

4x4 Demon

Recommended Posts

My first point is that first generation Chrysler Concords the electric fans fight like a glove on the parts store aftermarket radiator and it's a 2 fan unit I'm trying to mount it up in my 85 4x4but the fan clutch is in the way and I was wondering if anyone knows how to remove it so I don't have to Dremel out the shroud

You might be able to do this on the vehicle if the rad was out of the way. Otherwise remove the pump and take the front off the clutch fan. Has oil inside. Then slit the rear half of the aluminum case and break it off the bearing. Carefully slit the bearing race and remove from the pump shaft. Lastly slice the shaft just behind the inner race and as far away from the pulley as you can.

On my 710 I left the bearing on because there was lots of room for it.

The pulley is pressed on and the first one I cut too close (flush) and it wobbled off. Just stay forward 1/8" and you're ok.
