Clevite bearings good?

Recommended Posts

so I am in the midst of rebuild my L20b for my 521... seems like all the parts stores are pushing Clevite bearings on me, or maybe clevite really is good. Shucks is quoting me $58 for the rod & main set, the price is good but is the brand good... at least for datsun's.

Anyone have an opinion, or fact to share on this? I am supposed to pick them up tomorrow.

Thanks

well... felpro gets a bad rap, but I've never had a problem with them. I just want to be sure... $58 is a steal for sure, but I have a commercial account so I guess thats cheating. I'd be glad to get parts for people, I just need the cash upfront so I'm not stuck with the parts if you think about backing out, also I can only order from the warehouse store in lakewood.

Clevite is a nascar sponsor and they do get used in the engines, if those bearings can withstand that much abuse there good enuff for the daily grind. when i rebuilt my last 4AG engine i was revin at 8500 with clevites and they withstood my stupid young antics.

I've built many engines with Clevite stuff. Good product. Also, check Northern Auto Parts on eBay. They usually have bearings and other engine internals for closeout pricing. I have got some bearing sets from them for $10! The stuff is always new old stock and I have never been disappointed in over 20 transactions with them.
