Scgreen620
I have a 78 620 it has a floor temp dummy light, problem is now it's staying on even if the truck is off has anyone had this problem ? It was fine before I'm just concerned it might kill the battery if I don't pay attention to it... I have to tap it in order to turn off when the car is off Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
It's a warning of catalytic converter over heating. Pull the bulb or disconnect the light. Quote Link to comment
Scgreen620
I guess I have to disconnect the wires ... I just thought there might be a relay or something not working properly because it stays on when the truck is off Quote Link to comment
Ranman72
does it turn off later when the truck cools down Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Odd, I would expect this to be activated only when the key is on. Quote Link to comment
Rjawm
Odd, I would expect this to be activated only when the key is on. Most fires started by an over-heated catalytic converter are after the car is shut off and the static heat is trapped without airflow. Seems like that's when you'd want it to work the most. Sidenote: I once had a fire start under my truck due to being lowered and parking in taller grass lol. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Overheating would happen mostly when the choke is on or some other, over rich condition. The light coming on after you get out of the vehicle doesn't help much. Quote Link to comment
Scgreen620
Well I don't have a catylic converter.. It's straight pipe Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
It's clear what you should do... 1 Quote Link to comment
