Heater blower upgrade?

Does anyone know if there is an upgrade to the stock blower? It sucks, makes a whole lot of noise but not much air coming out of the vents

Couple of things....

 

It can't blow if it can't get air. Check the plenum under the wiper arms for leaves, pin needles and maple keys. They get in there and block the air. Next take the fan to heater hose off and see if the fan is blocked with any leaves or a mouse's nest. Check the heater core is not blocked and most important that the operating controls and fully opening and closing the doors inside.

 

 

 

Is your alternator putting out 14+ volts when running? Low output means lower operating fan speed.

Good tips there but yeah, alternator and charging system is fine. And it blows alright it's just a bit underwhelming compared to other, newer cars. 

I'm gonna check the piping and inlets also

Foam seals between the different sections have likely broken down, letting air escape all over the place. Replacing those would help, but i too have wondered what blowers have higher cfm.

Also check that your engine is getting up to the proper temperature. It doesn't have to blow like a tornado if the air is good and hot. Thermostats (good ones) are at least $10 so don't get some POS Chinese WallMart $3.99 from the 'auto department'. You want no lower than a 180F for the 720.

 

Pull the two heater hoses off, set the heater to max warm and using a garden hose flush the core both ways several times. Sediment in the core will reduce it's ability to transfer heat.
