SickDrift
I have a pair of Toxic Shocks (part# 413518), fronts, that will fit Nissan/Datsun 1968-1986 521's, 620's and 720's. These are generally advertised as drop shocks, but they are longer than the Monroes (http://catalog.tenneco.com/monroe/productImageDisplay.do?product=32206&locale=en&catalog=MONROE) I took off my truck by 1". They would be great for a truck at stock height. Anyway, I installed these and realized afterward that they were bottomed out at static height. But from the pictures you can see that the marring on them would prevent me from returning them. They have zero (0) miles on them, they are new only installed clumsily, once, and in perfect operating order. Here is the document chart for the shocks: http://www.explorerprocomp.com/PDFs/07cat/98-99.pdf My invoice showing whne I purchased these: They are for sale for $32.25 plus actual shipping, but I dont know what that is. Two for the price of one. My idiotic choice is your gain. PM me for more info Edited October 9, 2008 by SickDrift Link to comment
Bleach
so sad. Even though they're not returnable, did you send in a complaint to the place you bought them from? Link to comment
SickDrift
so sad. Even though they're not returnable, did you send in a complaint to the place you bought them from? No, probably not so much a complaint, but I will suggest to them they change the wording on their site. I think this is a pretty easy mistake to make, unless you're super attentive and I would hate to see another person do the same thing. Link to comment
]2eDeYe
That's lame...they should take them back. How are you supposed to know that they wouldn't work? Link to comment
Bleach
I will suggest to them they change the wording on their site. I think this is a pretty easy mistake to make so maybe you ordered the factory style shocks but didn't notice that they were listed as such? Link to comment
SickDrift
so maybe you ordered the factory style shocks but didn't notice that they were listed as such? I pretty much screwed up:(. I'm not making excuses for it as I should know better the difference between how a drop spindle lowers a truck, and how reindexing torsion bars lowers a truck. That being said, I think they should consider being more clear about the description they use for the product. I think it could be considered mildly misleading. Link to comment

Yeah, I dont know... I'm kinda bummed. Oh well, atleast someone will get a better deal than I did on these shocks; and be making a more informed decision. Link to comment
SickDrift
BTW, these is a comparison of the Monroe-Matic Plus shock for our trucks (Blue, pn: 32206) and the toxic shock (white). It shows why this is such a huge problem for a dropped truck. Link to comment
]2eDeYe
Considering the fact that you cannot buy drop spindles for a 68-77 620 and that those shocks are longer than the stock ones you pulled off the truck, I would say their ad is highly misleading. Link to comment
SickDrift
Here is the conversation with the company I purchased them from since alerting them to my problem, from the most recent down: No. All I did was install them, scratched the housing while I muscled them into position, lowered the truck back to the ground, only to see that the shocks were fully compressed at ride height. They got more scratched as I had to muscle them out, and put them back in their boxes. Here is a link to a pic that shows one next to my Monroe factory replacement part: http://i38.tinypic.com/2m5jvbs.jpg As you can see there in an inch difference in mounting height. yellowdatsun
I didn't see anything on that web PDF about needing drop spindles. That should be something that is stated within their information. I think they should take them back. Link to comment
