ZombieMachine
Oddball thing about this truck is that the front axle is a narrow Dana 30 out of a Grand Wagoneer with OEM Datsun rear axle brake hardware adapted to it. Quote Link to comment
ZombieMachine
Where is the best place to apply the bfh? Back of the studs? Quote Link to comment
Elkie
risk messing up the threads on the studs, try the area around it. Just need to break it free from years of grime build up. Quote Link to comment
]2eDeYe
No full size Wagoneer ever had a Dana 30. You likely have a custom Dana 30 built specifically for the Datsun conversion. You might have Dana 44 flat top knuckles though which are nice for hi steer conversions. This is how mine was set up with the datsun drum brakes. And ya, a couple wacks with a mallet and the axle will separate from the housing. :) Quote Link to comment
ZombieMachine
I'm sure you're right. :) Its definitely a mis-mash of Dana bits and Datsun brakes. I have started a Toyota SAS parts collection to do away with the crappy Dana 30 entirely. 1 Quote Link to comment
ZombieMachine
Backing plates have been removed from the donor axle and my rig. Attempting to borrow 5 minutes with an industrial press the remove the backer from the hub. In the meantime, new wheels. Much better. Thanks for the help, ya'll. 4 Quote Link to comment
