allen dodson
Thinking of buying a mild street cam for my L16. Its basically all stock except dual carbs. How easy is it to install a camshaft? Is it worth the money and time? Its going in a 521 pickup with stock rearend gears and the stock 4 speed. Quote Link to comment
datzenmike
Pull the cam, rockers and lash pads, etc from any L20B head. 248 duration and 0.413" lift. Same specs as the L16SSS cam. Cheaper too. Easy to do with a few wrenches and a couple of hours. Quote Link to comment
moparvwfreak
it sounds like it should be an afternoon job if all theparts are handy. couple extra hours if you have to go to the yard and yank one. Quote Link to comment
datsunfish
L20b cam is a very mild upgrade. I run a 450 regrind on my l16 and it still sucks because the L16 is very gutless for how heavy it is. But it runs great. Kinda lumpy but very responsive and revs up past 7k. Great for passing on the highway. Quote Link to comment
moparvwfreak
hmmm.... i could use something like that in my truck. Quote Link to comment

Opening valves sooner and closing later. Opening valved further. Stronger springs. Larger valves. How mild???:D Quote Link to comment

Phlebmaster
I have an L-16... I started with the stock l-16 cam. I switched to the stock l-20 cam and it was an improvement, but only slightly. I then put in a mystery regrind cam and WoW! You can here it run in my project thread, I like the comp cam the best.
